I remember flying to Manila with my family from the Province in the mid 1960's. I was around 7 or 8 years old then. My parents, sisters & myself we stayed in a hotel located in Escolta. From a 7 or 8 years old eyes of a child like me, I was mesmerized by the neon lights glittering at night around Escolta shopping district. That was then. Now that I live in U.S. more than half of my life, I reminisce the old scenes from my old home country.

The Philippines was so different then compared to now. You are absolutely correct when you commented that folks were dressed up nicely, the place looks less crowded and open, no informal settlers, folks took pride in themselves when traveling (this was before the age of mass travel brought about by the jumbo jets), well-kept home, and the buildings have character. Alas, those days are gone replaced by a concrete jungle, crowded streets, informal settlers, and dirty air. Thanks for sharing.

@Joel Favia The Nuclear energy project was stopped because it became a milking cow of Macoy's men. Please read the latest Supreme Court decision on the case. Further, it was discontinued due to the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant disaster. Move on na oy.

Proud Makatizen here. To be honest I didn't know that the Ayala Triangle was once an airport and I traverse those roads that form the triangle every weekdays ^_^

Thank you for sharing this rare and beautiful documentary. I love seeing places, how it was way back then where everything was simple and peaceful. A lot of good memories ang good vibes. Bamboo Organ is on Zapote Rd. Las Pinas the one that cuts between Coastal Rd. and Alabang-Zapote Rd

what a pity that not much importance and interest is given to history and culture. Philippines can improve more. I hope Philippines does not drown in consumerism. Which it does with so much money sent by OFWS.

because people back then was quite civilized, disciplined, clean, this is before the dictatorship era and the minds of our politicians are a little bit mature and focus on our economy and people... unlike today its like a domino effect... chaotic, crab mentality in every citizen... sigh! how wish we can go back to our very own traits back then.... peace!
