Only one you'd feel comfortable with? I assume you've never gotten a tattoo before lol. Being able to talk and laugh with your artist changes the whole experience massively.
@Cincelia5 жыл бұрын
@@xGordzulax ok I might have been a bit harsh on them but I was with a friend who needed a cover up because it faded very quickly and on that day there was a different tattoo artist available (her first tattoo artist travelled abroad for work) and everything went well she went twice for consultation and the stencil was great but all of a sudden he changed the design and didn't follow the stencil in the middle of tattooing and the cover up was on her back so see couldn't see anything. She only got to see it in the bathroom in front of a mirror for a break and called me so I could pick her up. I know its rare and I know the fun in great communication with the tattoo artist and the overall experience but after seeing my friend in tears traumatized me a bit. by the way the stencil was a flower and he tattooed lines that looked like half a head and 2 eyes on.

It's nice because it creates an air of welcoming/understanding. Since Inked is such a popular show for people in the main stream media, it's important that these show actually show a professional side and show people that tattooing is a craft. The video is labeled as bad tattoos and "Tattoo artists draw examples of how to fix and cover bad tattoos, and explain what makes them bad." . They don't do that. Except 2 or 3 of the artists who genuinely try. Videos like these that label themselves as how to fix cover ups + why they're bad and literally just mock em close the door to people with bad tattoos trying to actually get them covered up properly. You embarrass them and without knowing their background, shut them out from trying to come into a shop to get actual good work done. Just cause a tattoo looks shitty or drawn poorly doesn't mean it's scratcher work, it could have just been a shitty tattoo artist or apprentice. As an apprentice myself, these videos don't contribute anything to the industry but make it harder for people to genuinely seek professional understanding of the craft and their options. These videos just show professionals acting unprofessional about questions/things related to their actual fucking careers. You can tell who is actually passionate about their work and who is actually professional face to face to work with. They're the ones who care beyond this gimmicky show and actually don't talk shit about their clients behind their backs for their mistakes or past decisions.

Tyrelle Davenport Because it’s a really easy way to cover up something, you can make it as big or as small as you want. And as long as you know what you’re doing it often looks really good.

@XibaXela5 жыл бұрын
Most of the artists I know IRL don't do cover ups. It's like a specialist area and I'm pretty sure most of these guys don't know how to do them well.
@Futu065 жыл бұрын
@@XibaXela It just depends on the artist's style. If someone's style isn't really suited for cover-ups, they're probably not going to do them, and/or can't do them very well. Cover-ups have to be fairly dark, depending on what's underneath, bold and textured to hide the lines underneath, right, so that takes realistic (most of it, unless it's really-really dark), portraiture, tribal, most of Japanese, dotwork, minimalistic and watercolour out of the running right off the bat. So you're left with artists who do traditional or neo-traditional to begin with and from there, need people who like to do stuff that's textured enough. So really I don't think it's an issue of skill per se, if the artist is great at style that would work for cover-ups, they can, in all likelyhood, pull them off. Tattooing over scar tissue is another matter, though, takes some practice.
@breille97235 жыл бұрын
For some of them I could let the joking and making fun of the tattoos slide, but how some of them reacted to the poor guy with keloids really didnt sit well with me. I get keloids sometimes and I'm very lucky my tattoo didnt, but if it did I'd hate to hear someone say shit like that about it. Dumb decisions are preventable. Scarring just happens
