Personal suggestion, pick a mage over a hunter/warrior. One, fresh starting out, they're prolly the fastest to hit 5. Two, if you're talking about levelling to get a movement ability, I believe blink > Cheetah for such a short distance. But, if you're going to go that route, level to 20 for portals. If you're wheeling and dealing on your bank alt, having the option to meet your client at any city is a big boon. Thirdly, I'd even recommend eventually getting to lvl 35 on your bank alt. You don't need to level your enchanting to disenchant, but having the option to enchant on your bank alt in any city could make for some deals. However, 35 is pretty time consuming, so I can't recommend it for everyone (Though if you do this, go Enchanting/Alchemy and use Arcanite CD religiously).

Minor speed on boots? Casual. To optimize it fully you first need to find a girlfriend. Convince her to have three kids with you. After that you need to let them age to about 5-6 years old. At that point you get all of them WoW accounts and have them level warlocks until they can summon. Now you have your own little summoning team running between the mailbox and the AH for you. Always ready to summon.

I'd recommend combining Informant with Enchantrix. You can see what items will d/e to, and if those mats will sell for less than the base item on the AH, you just sell the item. Postal looks like a great addon, never heard of it so ty for that :).

Get a Mage to 35 for Alchemy+Transmute master for the Arcanite Bar transmute if you go above level 5. Why Mage? Blink shaves off a quarter of the distance from the AH to the mailbox. You could go Rogue/Druid instead of course, for Sprint/Dash. It's quite a lot to do for a bank alt, but on every private server so far, you get at least 10g pure profit per transmute early on, which drops to around 5g after a good while. That's a lot of money for zero effort. You could always level the Mage to 60 later on if you want to farm Dire Maul trash for gold as well. Alchemy is one of those professions that is ALWAYS relevant. Nobody stops needing pots/flasks/elixirs.

For those enchanters out there, I would highly suggest having two different prices for giving enchants. One price, the cost of your mats, based on current AH prices, with a small tip included in the price and a much higher price for people who want to bring their own. Since everybody and their mom will have a lv5 alt with enchanting better make sure people use your mats first.

Best part about having a bank alt? You can list all your stuff on the AH without getting whispers from other players. Few things are more annoying that being 3/4 of the way through a BRD run and have to explain to somebody why, NO, you cannot come to Org RIGHT THIS SECOND and sell them that BoE you have listed on the AH.

You forgot enchantrix; It comes with a database of possible disenchant outcomes of items, and it also updates that data as you disenchant items, and updates the values based on recent material costs scanned at the AH, sometimes vendoring an item for its value is more profitable than disenchanting it. It can also scan the AH for items posted that has a higher DE value than BO or bid price. Also auctioneer is better than aux because it keeps old data instead of just showing a most recent snapshot. In terms of vanilla Wow, it's hard to remember what I learned in terms of having a bank alt. I do know that I didn't have enchanting on it but simply used it as a mule. Bag addons also annoy the heck out of me. As a very organised person, I had my own system of keeping things organised in my bags - in fact, I still do with every character I roll. The only thing I can say is diversify. Don't stick to one way of trying to make gold. Use your professions, sure. But there are creative ways to save up gold - in Classic, don't expect to be able to charge exorbitant amounts for reagents or crafted items, either. Learn the market; and keep in mind when certain things sell the best, and when gathering agents can be snapped up cheaper.

Would add depending on how much you use your alt, getting a hunter aspect cheater, shaman wolf, druid travel helps speed up time around the city. Sometimes you might go AH/Mail/Bank other times you might head of to another area and having the extra speed helps. Its also extremely fun to play bank alt dress up, its an added level of fun for you to play with. Other things include having a pet following you, like the chicken. Engineering to get goggles to look snazzy etc.

lmao that disenchant window bug used to piss me off. I would be in a dungeon and would have to /reload. For bank alts, it's very useful to have an alt account entirely. That way if you need something from your bank alt you can log in and trade it directly. An additional use of an alternate account is to run it as a "Sniper", where you install addons to scan the auction house and check items against their vendor value and if it costs less than a vendor price to auto-buy it. You essentially run that on an alt account in the background while you're actually playing your main account. People do this on retail all the time. The downside is that you have to wait for mail to come in (2 hours I believe).

You might want to also have a bank alt sit in Booty Bay, so you can get ally recipes that sell for a lot more! Since they are hard to get as a horde, or have an Ally as a bank alt. I made tons of money in vanilla swapping recipes back and forth and getting stuff on my horde toons that only alliance can usually get. In vanilla the AH was not "shared", it was split. and there were 3 separate auction houses. Horde, Ally and Neutral. You want an Alt for all three and you want to scan it fast and get those recipes / items / etc for either side. And should you get a recipe that sells for a lot, you might want to consider being able to USE it and selling what you MAKE. There are recipes for cooks, and first aide, and other professions that would sell for thousands, not just hundreds. And on the enchanting side, you want to sell the enchants, not the mats. Use the mats to level up.

If you're planning on getting a Hunter to level 20 for Aspect of the Cheetah. You might as well level it to 35 so that you can level your Enchanting all the way to Artisan and actually use that character as a proper Enchanter, sure you won't have the best recipes as some of them are BoP and come from high level dungeons and raids, but you'll still make a fair bit of gold enchanting simple stuff that ever raider will need like +4 to all stats on chest, and the minor speed increase to boots.

on PvE servers on Horde, one Alliance at Booty Bay as well as one in each faction. During BC originally I found Copper on alliance selling for more than double on horde. Transact via booty bay. Put copper on for 95% of horde selling price. Buy it with your own horde alt. If someone else poaches it - great. You sold it for almost horde selling price. If they don't sell it on horde. Horde alt keeps the cash for the next transfer. If you've got $50 early game get 5 accounts and start your own guild and close 3 of them after a month. 2 accounts for multibox levelling (not botting, no macros - you have to control both characters)

My preferred hearth location for bankers is a sanctuary city so neither the alt or the auctioneer can be interfered with. Better still is a place like the Wrath Dalaran Underbelly where guild bank, personal bank, and mailbox are within click range. Best of all is a city with maximum portals. Since I'm an all profs fool and an altoholic, I have a lot of guild banks for legacy mats. One of the bankers is my designated auctioneer and central clearing house. My leveling toons mail items to my auctioneer who sorts out the mats for my storage bank alts and my auction bank. All of my bankers train enchanting and engineering so they can use any available AH. This past year or so, I decided to keep my character slots maxed out so I can gain from certain events. The best example is the WOW anniversary. Each toon that logs in for that event receives 500 timewalk badges and can acquire more with the trivia question daily. Those temp toons can then buy heirloom upgrade tokens and reputation tokens for the benefit of my leveling toons. That is a minimum of 25,000 badges for precious little effort. On retail, I play a server that hosts 3 realms which gives me the option of creating all 50 toons on the same server. I mean to play classic and will likely put a bank alt in each of the racial capitals. I expect classic will have one AH for horde and one for ally. Will there be a neutral AH?

dust usually sells for more at the AH than the item at the vendor. some plate shoulders with agi and spirit don't sell at all so you don't wanna put them in the AH and loose your deposit.

Because some items are utter trash and won't sell on the AH at all, because of how bad they are. They vendor for very little; but you can still disenchant them for the same mats as any other item around that level and those mats are far more profitable when sold in bulk at the AH.

Spirit is, agi does not much for warriors, the dmg mitigation from dodge and armor is not worth it. I'd rather disenchant those items and buy better stuff.

@Andrei Georgescu Actually far from it. You don't wanna level as fury anyway because your lack of hit just makes it frustrating. In the later game you wanna get hit until soft cap (at 10%) and then 15 weapon skill (to reduce dmg penalty from glancing blows. Even after this, agi does very little to increase your crit. If I remember correctly only one item from fury BiS list does have agi on it (those pants from Naxx trash) because crit is usually easier to come by and you are generally punished for going after agi instead of str by attack power loss which furys do scale way better with.

Should go several steps further. All your bank alts should have real names, to actually turn them into alts. They all should have professions, and level them high enough to unlock the CD transmute recipes: Mooncloth, arcanite and deeprock salt - Tailor, alchemist and leatherworker. Those transmutes will get you a lot of cash, since people are paying for the cooldown basically. A mage should be one of the first alts, with Tailoring and enchanting, you can can use portals to go anywhere in Azeroth for services, or teleport people for a fee. Tailoring to make bags for you and all your alts for cheap, enchanting do disenchant greens and slowly get some recipes.

The tip about the patterns is true even way back in vanilla. On alliance side, there is a specific vendor very far away from Ashenvale far to the west of the zone, and she sells a leatherworking pattern for Herbalist Gloves. vanilla-twinhead.twinstar.cz/?item=7361 The respawn is pretty slow too, so I would leave a character there, load up my bags with patterns for a week or two, then sell them slowly on the AH, one at a time. I was the only person who did it, and there were plenty of people who would buy them just because it's something they didn't have yet. 18s purchase, consistently sold for 5-8g. And even better, it was alliance side only, so I would sell it for even more on the neutral AH to horde. (funny too since the gloves are complete trash, give a +5 to herbalism.

Is disenchanting green items always more profitable than vendoring them? How much does like Spring Dust AH for?

Depends on the stats and type of green. If a green item is profitable to use for a character leveling, the item could be more profitable to sell at the Auction House. On the other hand, a weapon goes for more at the Vendor, so vendoring a green weapon could be more profitable. Regarding disenchanting, remember that people will always try to level up their professions, and a lot of people find it too tedious to grind instances for the greens to drop. So either they buy the greens from the auction house/vendors, or they buy the materials gained from disenchanting. Most common place to buy Enchantment materials is the Auction House. The pricing differs from server to server. Mostly it depends on how much of the items there is available as well as how much demand there is for it.

You can get a mage lvl 40 for portals, great bank alt. Make him tailoring/ench, make bags and DE shit. Then if you really hate yourself, go ahead and get him 60 and get water, he's literally a little vendor toon. Ofc at that point he's no longer a bank alt, but a mage main. =p

theres more than 1 addon with the name Aux and there is the one u have said and there is also a simpler verison same with the postal there is a addon called Mail which is almost the same and for Informan there is SellValue

Thoughts on maxing a mage to use as a bank alt and a gold farmer on the same toon? Or is it better for your gold farmer to not have its bank full of stuff I like going enchanting/tailor on my mages so it seems like a good fit

The Overall best Bank alt would probably be Level 35 and having Tailor and enchanting maxed. Reason beein mooncloth and endlevel enchanting. More 35 alts with other maxed professions make it even more wealthy. Everyone tailor for mooncloth cd and then another proffession for Money making. Lots of Investments but great Outcome in the end

Not always, the dust yield and item vendor value must be factored in, for example, a green dagger will sell for a lot less than a 2H Axe to the vendor but both will yield the same amount of dust. Same for armor, plate yields the same dust as cloth but goes for more than the vendor.

How about non mage grinding spots? Rare valuable drops like the eye of shadow or other things? Dont get me wrong the brd mage farming was super neat but not everyone will have a mage and stuff... Thanks, keep up the good work!

Hi Erin, thanks for the feedback. This is a good topic of discussion and one that's hard to explore. I have had feedback like this in the past regarding the mage class limitation. The problem is I have tried other farms, even "discovered" some new ones myself but every time I fail to at least hit 50g/hour. I feel like If I can't at least do that for the viewer then is it really worth their time? There is the DME farm, yes. Problem with that is you are yet again relegated to the mage/lock/priest and maybe shaman. There is also the ZG farm but again, that's mage only. I even decided to step it up a gear at one point to address this and went as far to go and farm the elites around Kazzak with a couple of friends, since they are raid elites they had a higher chance to drop valuable gear like blues/epics. It was a disaster. The mobs could be killed but they dropped hardly anything. Maybe 20s a time and 7 runecloth. Any ideas?

Speaking of hunter, i know on my rogue back on nost i bought the preraid BIS tarnished elven ring from a hunter who cheesed dire maul tribute. Stuff like that just seems like fun content to me. Like i understand wanting to have a high gold per hour value and i think stuff like the brd farm is great for that but im sure theres gotta be people interested in seeing what other classes can do with their skill set, even if the gold/hour is lower, you know what i mean? Its just a thought really, just seems like entertaining content if you're up for it.
