Acrylic pouring Medium: Fluid art
My home made pouring medium used for my usual work is a pre mix of 70% clear craft glue and 30% warm water, if in the USA Elmer’s glue all works well (most pva glues can be made up with same ratios to make a pouring medium), I add my pouring medium to my paint slowly until I achieve the consistency of pouring cream, approximately 50/50 more pm if needed, not all paint brands go well with this pouring medium, so just test out.
paint brands mostly used are the Global impasto paints, Amsterdam paints, pebeo paints,also Mont marte studio acrylics, or pouring paints.
I Certainly explore different brands and mediums, it’s all part of the learning process.
Also iv started to add a tablespoon of floetrol to each paint cup and stir instead of silicone for cells.
“Cell Activation”
Extra special cell and lace and bloom like creation is found with Amsterdam paints add Aussie floetrol until correct consistency required, then used in pour or used to swipe details, “Aussie slides” are easily created this method.
If I add silicone this is what I do.
When iv mixed my paints I add 2-4 drops maximum of Helmar silicone, also Australian made, I stir in well.
I always like to mix up my paints and add silicone the day before I’m going to paint, and cover with a damp cloth, as I have found I have much better results.

When you kissed the areas with the Floetrol and the super cell paint, then kissed that onto the silicone side, those are the best flowers of all in my opinion.

Beautiful colours..that lavender is so pretty.. I still think the silicone has its place and quite like the bubbles effect n with your kisses.. I thought you were going to swipe downwards for a minute...got excited.. Beautiful piece as always

Hi Gilly, I actually like the cells that the silicone makes, it's more unique and not so uniform, if you get my drift. I am loving the new discovery of the mont marte pre-mixed cell activator and the results it gives and will have to give this one a try. I just love the way different cells form from different activators. Thank you for showing us this new cell activator and how it works along side the others we use. Gilly, the balloon work really makes this piece. I agree that the silicone is not as delicate as the Floetrol. Remember how you would 'fix' the blobbly cells by dragging a skewer through them? That was quite effective to minimise the blob look. I like how you have displayed this piece at the end. Cheers!

When I now see the different cells , my preference is Amsterdam with Australia floetrol . What appeals to me least is the super cell paint. Thanks Gilly for sharing your experiment 👍

I agree with you a silicone makes non-attractive cells I like the Australian Floetrol with the Amsterdam paints the best. Would love to see you swipe with something different then black or white maybe Amsterdam paint and either purple or blue thank you for showing us

I like the Australian floetrol cells the best. When ever I'm tilting a painting that I've swiped, I find the cells get all stretched out and get really weird shapes to them when I use Australian floetrol. I haven't tried the other two.

Being in Texas getting Amsterdam Flotroel is not easy. So I use the silicon but I do get smaller cells it depends on the paints I use and my pouring medium. Lots of used up paint experimenting but I have fun doing it. Please keep the camera rolling . learning the balloon kisses has turned some of my not so greats into some " really wows".

Gilly another product being used for cells is flood brand PENETROL. it’s cheap and goes a long way and the cells are pretty nice. I haven’t compared them to Aussie floetrol but thought I would give you a bit of information.

`That was very interesting. The only paints I use are Mont Marte and the cell Mont Marte ones. I am wondering if there is a guide where one can compare colours to different paints etc or how to make different colours? Very, very interesting, although not for me swiping....lol. Thanks. Great video.

your floterial has more ingredients in it. that's why it's more expensive too. ours is watered down. I'm from Wisconsin, the United States. I use baby wipes to get my silicone off. It works real good. did you go to any Beatles concerts when you were young in London.? years ago.

I know you are asking Gilly and I am certain that she'll answer. However, my husband had 3 huge boxes of business cards left over after the company logo was changed. So, I use business cards, with a very light hand and then throw them away. This works well for me when doing this type of swipe.
