Are you going to try and paint the pantry before packing back the goods, or does it not need refreshing, oh well, I am sure you are on top of it. Nice to hear you are busy with your social life, makes working in house more pleasant we all need a break. Glad the van is road worthy, the new discovery re the floor, that is good news, at least you have a solid floor. Hope it all turns out the way you wish for. Congrats on getting the van CT. I had a 75 Olds cutless Supreme yea4s ago. To my amazement, it too passed. Fortunately, we don't have do that anymore here. That was an interesting find Suzie, about the tiles. I remember, my mom telling the story of the lino someone put in the house dad built. My mom asked the man how long it would last, and he said, this will outlive you. We'll it almost did, but we got tired of it, waxing and polishing. So then it was cushion flooring which didn't last and was replaced every couple of years. We had fun skiing on the lino in our socks after it was waxed and polished. The beams are coming along nicely. Best wishes and love to all. C U in next one.

Surprises that keep coming like a gift that just keeps on giving! What an exciting discovery! Just the right angle in just the right lighting, with the floor wet with moping, and your eye picked it out! How exciting! I'm sure the cement at the doorway may have been put there to even the meeting floors up a bit or some such thing, but I'm sure you'll figure it out and tackle it, and we will get to enjoy it from thousands of miles away!!! How fascinating to find that stone flooring. My husband said to use Muratic Acid for the stone to clean it, be very careful not to get it on your skin. He use to work at a college and this is what they used on floors there. Good luck, Kathy USA 🇺🇸

I think the imprinted floor will give way to so many opportunities to decorate them in a new paint colour or designs. A much better situation than vinyl flooring. I am sure you will come up with something fun. Have a great week ahead.

How nice to find a decent, solid floor below the vinyl. We had long, red oak planks under two layers of vinyl, and one layer of carpet. What you have sure looks like stamped concrete, but it also looks very nice, indeed.

Lovely stamped concrete--but I wouldn't worry about cleaning all the old paint, but smooth enough for new paint (s) and area rug.... Agree the lino likely warmer & quieter--but also might be vapor issue from ground moisture? (So best to seal it before recovering it if you opt for that).

you can buy factory floor paint which does not come off hard waring in different colours as its not like your saving fancy tiles .

Yes, that looks like imprinted concrete to me, which was quite common 100 yrs ago, and painted over. But looks rather nice anyway, and probably could be repainted, with a floor paint you like.

My Mom faux painted a brick floor in the basement rec-room, grey background, traced an irregular brick shaped stencil she flipped back & forth up & down, painted those individually, then antiqued black stain over it. It has since been carpeted over so the new owners are in for a surprise .

If the floor title is smooth I bet they skim coated it, and while it was drying the threw sand, so the floor would not be slippery? How does that sound?

hi folks...how about trying acetone, you could try a small patch with nail polish remover (varies but basically 30-60% acetone), if it works scale up, should be readily available in France.

I’d imagine it was a painted concrete floor and they Lino ‘d it to ad warmth. I’d strip it, clean it and paint it in a black and white checker board , maybe. Or stencil
