Its very impressive how even the tiny Great Tit will throw away all of its fear to protect its young from danger. It also find the behaviour of her young to be interesting. When they're still hatchlings they are yet to be able to register danger but immediately quiet down when their mother jumps on them. Later as fledgelings they seem to have noticed the Jay but don't know how to respond to it until their mother reacts. Very interesting indeed!

i love watching animals be animals and people calling them brave lol it's not a choice they are hardwired to protect their young, it's animal instinct. edit: that instinct is why too many people are parents and shouldn't be. animals have babies to survive. humans have babies because it's what you do and depending the situation they can get you money. animals are better than us.

@missyjo2475 I know that this behavior is driven by instinct. However, I cannot fully agree with you that it is not a choice in case of animals. It is driven by instinct but it happens that bird parents leave their chicks and save themselves. I have seen it a few times. I can call this mother brave as, from my point of view, it is an act of bravery to stand up like that to a much bigger bird.
