drag queen makeup seems to be all about softening, big sweeping lines and simple features, but drag king makeup seems so much more complex!

The difficulty with king makeup is that men traditionally don't wear makeup, so a king often has to use makeup to transform his face, then disguise the fact that he's wearing any. Queens are expected to wear makeup, because women often do.

Heidi Shoshana it's basically the same just drag queen makeup aims to diminish and round out your features whereas drag kings aim to pronounce and square off features

I really want Landon thrown into the mix of Season 8. Supposedly on reddit, next season is going to be cast with big names, as opposed to the small town local cast this year. Landon does have a following, and I've heard of him for years now. I think he could be the first King to Win.

^ By the way, this is the best casting yet. Smaller names don't mean anything, because this season is the first season that everyone is evenly matched and there is no clear winner or loser, I.e Magnolia, Kelly, Vivacious who we knew were going home immediately.

Drag King shows are the best. Definitely can get really crazy and theatrical, I never even knew they existed until a few years ago. Have a regular Drag King night in the city I live in, with a few of my friends performing. Definitely worth a look in, it's a lot of fun.

By the way, the drag king thing is not popular because it’s not politically correct. Since feminism, it’s all about women and accepting femininity in men. Which is good. But a side effect of feminism is that it has silently become unacceptable for a woman to enjoy looking and acting like a man, because that would bring the spotlight back on men and masculinity and empower the phallocentric society we live in (dumbest thing ever but yay feminism). In a thousand years, when our thoughts will be finally gender-blind and we won’t need a sex-based idealism anymore, drag kings will be popular.

Fra Darko I'm a feminist, and I have no problem with drag kings! I love the art of drag. Feminism isn't about deeming masculine women as unacceptable, it's about equality, respect, and not seeing femininity as a degrading quality. Women should be allowed to express themselves freely, not be told what's acceptable and unacceptable to act like...feminism wouldn't support that because it's controlling women and telling them how they should act, which is exactly what we're trying to eliminate.

I'm almost certain that feminists aren't the anti-drag king people... I don't like stereotypes, but if we are talking about stats, most feminists are liberals and when you look at the numbers, liberals are the ones that were fighting for LGBTQA+ rights (more so than conservatives). And many of the modern day drag kings are part of the pride community. So if anything, its the feminists supporting the drag kings because feminists are for equality, not against masculinity. In fact, in every gender there are feminists and feminism is about lifting up all genders.

***** I know this will sound stupid, but I feel like a lot of people will feel like drag is a man's game... even though the queens are dressing as women, there's still a slightly old fashioned view amongst many. I mean, there haven't even been any faux queens openly going into RPDR- anyone who has come out as a trans woman has been after entering the show or leaving. So in terms of having drag kings I feel like people would be like "um, why would anyone watch this? it's women, that would make it a women's tv show not a 'normal' tv show" like society tries to do to films starring mainly women- it's a chick flick if it has girls in it, but all the general films are 4 men and 1 token female.

Our Landon did not make Season 8, unfortunately. He was still posting on Twitter during the time of filming. Unless they've changed, the rules state that you cannot tell anyone that you are doing RDR until the episodes are released and the queens stop tweeting. That's usually a dead giveaway, if they stop posting out of nowhere or give an excuse right before filming, like they're going into surgery or something.
