Maybe one of your best videos yet. Great overview of the history of this amazing ship. I 've been waiting for this ship for 4 years (since I started playing). My thoughts on this ship pretty much mirror yours. It's like my mouth was moving but your words were coming out. The only thing I'd add is that this is a T6 ship (T7 on PC ) playing against T8's. It's a rare case of a ship being uptiered when being ported over, if you know what I'm saying.

Yeah, they did some strange things with the tribals in game. I think once they sent Cossack down two tiers, they almost HAD TO bump Haida up one. Cossack doesn't feel out of line at Tier VI, and Haida definitely has some notable statistical advantages over Cossack mostly in the HP, HE damage, and speed categories. I think Haida works at tier VII as designed with the right commander... which of course doesn't exist right now but who's counting. Glad you thought so highly of the video though. I deeply did not want to make it, but I think there are some fun bits in there and glad someone else agrees. 👍

The deeper we went into the review, the more I thought "Man, Ryan Reynolds is getting worked up over the Canadian commander thing..." 🤣😅🤣Also, just about spit out my drink with the whole "expect Friesland, which doesnt have any torps... or maybe it has just one?" I'm going to have to update all my videos since they all underestimate the torpedo load by one... But yeah, we'll see if I'm more upset about it than our Canadian players. 😄 They might be a bit too polite if that's the case.

I live 10 minutes away from Haida so I had to get it. I enjoy the play style however she needs a buff and a commander.

A commander, by itself, would be a buff. Perceptive gives it 5% (effectively) more HP and better situational awareness. I guess we can all cross our fingers and see what happens.

I love the Haida mostly got it for my patriotic nature for my country but oh my god please give me DeWolf as a commander. I have gotten great games with Murray as the commander but I wish I had a real DD commander it would make her so much better and DeWolf as the commander would be awesome due to historical reasons and it's DeWolf also I wish for the Canadian flag to be usable on the ship.

Even with a dedicated commander, what does she offer over the Lightning? Same gun reload, yes? Or a bit faster...I forget. deficient in torpedoes, crawling smoke instead of British smoke, ... should have had her 4th turret...probably was built after the change to enhance AA, but still... Great review Tactic! What plans do you have to review the upcoming Hybrid battleships? Though, to be fair, you could probably create a 2 hour movie with just the historical section on Enterprise...so, there's that...

Haida picks up 2,600 HP, north of 15% more HE DPM, 300 meters of stealth, and half a knot speed and more importantly engine boost which is not insignificant if you want to hunt other little boats. You pay for that with torpedoes (obviously quite a lot), about half the fire-starting chance, lose 40m on the turning circle, and I'd say the Lightning probably has the preferrable smoke situation. Lightning really is really more of the all-arounder to Haida's brawling hockey fan. Hybrids... I wouldn't mind talking about Kearsarge as a design if/when it comes out, but even the effort there is probably more "I'd be happy to make a video for you guys" rather than "I am personally interested." The idea is, frankly... in emotes 🦇💩🤪. I did read a 400 page book on the history of the Enterprise. That'll probably end up being split in half, if only to keep the history separate from the analysis of the ship in-game which I'm sure will hold-up like milk left on the counter just like my Independence, Saipan, and Graf Zeppelin reviews. 😄

Our available commander is at least Canadian… but meme “Dewey” builds aside the right historic commander dedicated to this ship hopefully comes to us eventually! I’m beyond thrilled the right historic ship is in this game to represent us Canadians in the game! Not that this is surprising add me to the “patriotic Canadian” list. I absolutely have had a great time in this ship so far, and with the right commander this ship will be amazing! The D-day camo, although not “historic” I appreciate the intent behind it and having a frag ticker if chosen, even if it is a bit of an additional money grab. The creeping smoke is a bit of a fun tool to play around with, ruining incoming predictive aiming while it’s active and creeping up to other DDs in smoke to ruin their days with that sonar helping just a little. Definitely feels like a different “get off my cap” bully gameplay from that Kidd has. Not hopeful for much with that secondary… but always funny if/when that gets the kill!

I just get upset dropping games because I'm at a structural disadvantage. As bad as that game was and as many mistakes as I made in it, that's a win with a torpedo build.commamder even. It's also pretty hard for me to believe they expect someone to buy a $170 bundle (even at, supposedly, 30% off) without a proper DD commander. It's made somewhat worse when the ship is as beloved as it is by her nation and you've got such a fine and obvious a choice for a commander. It's like when someone wins the Canadian lottery and faceplants when asked a remedial math question. What's two plus two? Dewey. In any case, glad you're happy with it. 🇨🇦

@@tacticangel I definitely skipped the big bundle … the math was not worth it, though the flag was hidden behind the bundles pay wall too. But I definitely agree without a dedicated DD commander is a detractor, just hoping they remedy this in the future for at least the commander… and hopefully it’s the right one historically.

I waited so long to finaly have the Haida, first they realy sell it at exhorbitant price with no real commander, what a shame and insult to Canadian, that said, I do pretty good with it being a DD player

I don't mean to say I did particularly bad in it, but I definitely lost a few games I would have been able to win with a decent commander. 👍 Glad you're enjoying the ship though!

So you're dead on about patriotic style players. I was in the Canadian Navy, and during my years in Sea cadets back in the 80s, I had the privilege to spend an entire weekend on board the Haida while she was docked as a museum ship at Ontario place. Yes sleeping in the nostalgic hammocks. She is currently at the Star naval reserve base in Hamilton Ontario. My kids wanted me to get the ship, so they got me ps gift cards for fathers day and I couldn't be more overjoyed getting the full D day package. It's ok for standard play. However, I just enjoy running up the kills in AI mode. 102 AI and 36 standard play so far. 138 ships destroyed. Your suggestion about having a dedicated destroyer commander would be something special. Ok just my input.

It's awesome that your kids thought that much of the ship and your service to help you get her. I can relate to running up those bow numbers if you're using a camo with a counter on it. 😄 But hopefully we don't have to wait too long for a real Commonwealth DD commander.

In my very short supertester career Öland was up for release and it had a Polish naval flag on it so hey the flag situation could be worse. With the current sky cancer meta we should send over some Canadian gardeners to weegee developers, maybe they can get the community’s message through? 🤔

Little things like the inaccurate commonwealth or the made-up panemerican and paneuropean flags, or the fact that they added the Dutch voicelines but Friesland doesn't use them, that are really annoying because you know it's super easy to implement but they're just freaking bored or something. Anyway, great video as always, I wonder why you kept mentioning admiral Wolf all the time..🤔

In a sense, the Commonwealth flag does have an advantage of at least being, at some point, a real flag. I'm not sure why the 70's version is preferable to the modern one, though. As for DeWolf though, I guess we just have to admit that some questions are beyond our capacity to understand or to answer... 🙃
