I actually had to have a look around for "sheeps" simply because we use the word "fishes" to refer to a set containing multiple sub-types of fish (as in varieties), and I have definitely heard people use the word "deers" in the same context, referring to both the white-tail and another variety (though this appears to be an American-English-only thing). I wonder why differing varieties in a single set are still referred to as "sheep"...and you are required to establish a construction to emphasize varieties (i.e. "...breeds of sheep"). I have an English degree and the inconsistencies of our language still occasionally astonish me.
