WPL C24-1 Hilux Upgrade Run

This is my 1/16 Scale WPL C24-1 RTR (Toyota Hilux).
I've added some upgrades, which I've listed below.
It's much more controllable than the RTR now.
It performed well and I'm very pleased with it.
I recommend the upgrades below if you have a stock RTR.
They are cheap to buy, and quick & easy to fit.
There are "How to" videos on KZbin that are very helpful.
Upgrades:
WPL 2 Speed Gearbox With 370 Motor,
20Amp Brushed ESC with XT60 Connector,
1500mah 2S Lipo with XT60 Connector,
WPL Metal Axle Truss* (Front & Rear),
*Not a direct fit. Needs adapting,
WPL Metal Drive Shafts,
WPL V1 Soft Tyres,
WPL C24 Rear Cabin,
Greased Shock Mod,
3.75" Indiana Jones Driver.

Hi Mikael. Thank you very much for watching my videos with your son. I know you are a busy parent and husband and I appreciate it very much my good friend. It must be difficult for you to find the time to sit down and relax for a few hours these days. I really like my WPL RC's. As you know yourself they have very nice hard plastic bodies which are very detailed, and with a few cheap upgrades the chassis can be transformed into great little trail trucks. I enjoy running them just as much as my high end RC's. Filming the tracking shots for these videos is a lot easier for me to do with a slow RC like this. I'm always very impressed with your camera tracking when you film your fast buggies. It's something I've tried to do with mine but this old man can't keep up with them anymore, so I use my trusty tripod now ! 😄👍👍

Hi Del. Adding the 2 speed gearbox and the softer tyres along with applying some marine grease inside the shocks makes a big difference to the performance of this RTR. Hi Tibs. Thanks very much my old friend. These are great looking RC's and a lot of fun. The body detail is very good. There's a C24-1 Metal kit version available now direct from WPL which already has the 2 speed gearbox, soft tyres, metal driveshafts, metal axles, metal c-hubs, metal wheel weights and metal steering knuckles. That would've been the better option but it hadn't been released when I bought my RTR. I'm very happy with mine now though, and it runs really nicely with the upgrades I've added. My WPL C44 is the metal kit and came with everything that the C-24 Metal kit comes with. The metal parts lower the centre of gravity which is really helpful because they both have hard plastic bodies. Have a fabulous weekend Daaaaarling 😄👍👍

Very nice run Derek. Pretty capable little rig as I noticed that this is 1/16. WOW... and I WILL say one thing for WPL, they sure do provide lots of "aftermarket support" in terms of upgrades and just replacement parts in general I have noticed.. :) THanks for sharing my friend

Thank you very much my friend. I'd recommend buying the kit version and the upgrades at the same time. There's also a C24-1 Metal kit version available now direct from WPL which would be a better option if you have the money. I would've bought that but it hadn't been released at the time. I bought the RTR version and then bought the upgrades a few months later. The kit comes with the 2 speed gearbox and softer tyres included, along with metal axles. But you still have to buy an ESC and battery and radio equipment. I got the esc from Banggood, and use a 1500mah 2s lipo battery from a WLtoys RC, and my Flysky radio and receiver. @@hollyhillrc Get the KM series for sure It's nice not to have to upgrade later. I'm sure you already know this stuff some Chassis parts are very cheap plastic and brittle so be careful, and they include all the original parts in the box with the upgraded parts. It's nice to have the extra parts just in case😎🙏

Hi Pete. Thanks very much mate. The area with the rocks is rocks usually busy. It's a favourite place for children to play. But when I walked past it was quiet so I took advantage and filmed some of this video there. The rocks are actually fake and they're called Pulhamite Stone. They were man made from Portland stone, cement and rubble to create the lakes, waterfalls (and follies which I drove over) when the woodland park was developed in the 1800's. Hi Peter. Thank you very much my friend. I was filming for around 45 minutes and the battery still had charge left in it for more. I didn't change out of low gear so that helps it last a long time. I use a 1500mah 2S lipo from a WLtoys 12428 buggy. I can just about squeeze it in the battery compartment. The battery that comes with the RTR version of this C-24 is only a 500mah 2S lipo and smaller in size. Have a nice weekend 😀👍

What an absolute stunner of an RC. I really like the look of this one - getting all down and dirty. Very realistic. A perfect vehicle for a modern day Indy. Naive question: what is the purpose of the black snorkel-like device on the passenger side ? I've seen those before.

On vehicles it's an air intake, called a snorkel as well. Raises it up for cleaner/cooler air and out of water on deep crossings.

Hi Mal. This was recorded just after the weeks worth of rain we had recently. It doesn't drain away very quickly by the lakes where I filmed this. It was nice to find a bit of mud and a puddle to drive through though. The rain has returned here today. We got drenched walking Roxy this morning in what I can only describe as natures power shower 😄😄👍
