Such a tough race, we were there pacing and crewing and the course was impressively brutal. Such a great attitude to keep on volunteering and pacing!

Great views. Great humble guy. You’d be exactly the type of volunteer I’d enjoy running into at an aid station. Another great video. Thanks.

Thank you so much for not showing or including audio of you getting sick!! lol I’m sorry about you DNFing but glad to hear you still had a blast at the event! A bad race still ended up turning great in the end, sometimes that’s what running is all about! Adjusting to situations and still finding a way to have fun and support others!

You're welcome! 😂

What a race! So stunning from the mountains, the views on top the ridge, the descents, and just everything. My face would be so tired from smiling. LOL! Sorry to hear about your DNF, but you still did an amazing job. Probably best to listen to your body and not overdue it. Loved the video!

Inspiring journey to follow along with as usual Wes! I've ran down in those parts, their is some tough terrain for sure. Come north and check out the Deathrace! It's a killer too ;)
@wplateАй бұрын
I was signed for the Death Race in 2024, but I wasn't ready so I withdrew. My recovery after Cocodona this year took a long long time. I am finally feeling somewhat more energetic. Thank you for watching this video!
@alesiabock9305Ай бұрын
They didn’t advertise it as a Sky Race, but WOW! Those ascents and descents and views. You gave me vertigo just watching the video. 😊

How did I never think about the instant potato packets? That, ramen, and pickle juice and I’m all set!

My friend Jose Sosa told me about carrying mashed potatoes at Cocodona. It is a great idea, and these packets are inexpensive.

The course and trail like quite challenging! Hard to stay efficient on trails like that...! And I can imagine how bad it got in the mud later on. Sorry about the DNF, I hope you are bouncing back well fitness-wise!

Another great video Wes. That area is brutal. Super technical with steep climbs/descents. There's a skyrace in that area called 'meet the minotaur' which destroyed me. I hope you will come back to conquer the divide. Would you say its on the level of Bigfoot difficulty wise? A lot of sinister sports races are brutal, from Death race, to sinister7, the divide200. The RD definitely pushes people to get the best out of them. They are putting on a new 200 in Canada next year I believe, you should sign up!
@wplateАй бұрын
Thanks for watching! My friends who finished Divide said it was *really* hard. The rain and mud made it worse I think. Likely up there with Bigfoot, sure, maybe a little harder in some ways. It is always hard to compare courses that are so different.
@JohnC171Ай бұрын
@@wplate That's true, I suppose so much goes on in a 200 that comparing them is difficult. I struggled to get around a 35km loop in that area, so 200miles seems like a ridiculous challenge.

This is another great video Wes showing some of Canadas beautiful scenery 🇨🇦 What’s your secret to preventing blisters on long runs? Any tips would be really appreciated! 😊🌅
@wplate3 күн бұрын
I pre-tape toes and areas that have historically blistered. I still sometimes have a blister get in, but the pre-taping has helped.

Hey wes, what are the bottles you have in your vest, where did you get them, and did they come with those tops? That race looks tough and I am sure you will be back to complete it in the future. Love the videos.

The bottles are ULTRAFLASK™ SPEED 600ML hydrapak.com/products/ultraflask-speed-600-ml

@wplate awesome thanks. I got an ultraspire vest recently and need to get some bottles for it.

30:35 Whoa. My nightmare as an RD. Was it just going to be selfserve? You could get away with that in a 100 if you absolutely had to but I imagine 200s have higher expectations given the distances between.

In the end there were 4 of us at the aid station, and it wasn’t super busy so it worked out!
