Thank you very much! I am a newbie at all this and you made it very easy. The screens are still basically the same, so it is still very current! However, you highlighted the BU zip files at 8:14 and saw how large the BU is. When I highlight the files I don't get an option to see properties or total file size. How else can I see the backup size so I can estimate the size when I have 3 full backups?

Thank You Matt! Recently, I came across caching issue on my WordPress website, after I changed the database prefix. The issue could be due to some duplicate rows in a table. Could not fix the issue despite trying several solutions. Now i want to revert back my website. Should I select only the Database option or ALL the options (Plugins etc,) when restoring the website.

Hi there! Thanks for the question. Well in this case I would restore only the database and see how that goes 😀 You can always restore everything, but I think this should be enough!

Hi Matt! Thanks for your kind response. I restored the database to fix the database prefix issue. The rows in the Usermeta table uses the new prefix. While the rows in Options got the previous prefix, except one row. The prefix in config file still uses new prefix. So, the data does not seems to be fully restored. Should I try restoring again or should update the prefix manually?

Both will work, but if you can do it manually, why not, it’s a quick job, 3 min I think?

Hi Matt, I was looking to see if I could use this plugin to do a backup and restore by using a backup stored on my computer. I've tried doing this but the backup I downloaded using the plugin doesn't seem to restore all the data.

Nevermind! I realised when downloading the backup you must download the various sections of it separately, e.g Database is one file, Plugins in one file, Themes is one file, etc. Maybe there is a way to download the entire backup as one file, but I can't seem to find it.

Hey Matt, thanks for this. I have a question - Why do I need 15 - 30 database backups? I have the (obviously wrong) idea that I only need the latest backup if anything goes wrong. What's the benefit of having more than that? And why so many for the database?

Hi there and thanks for the question! Well you don't actually need 15 backups, just one that is not corrupted! But in the case you get hacked for example, its good to get back to older ones than also the ones that got hacked... that's mainly the reason. The 15 backups is just a failsafe because newer backups with the hacked / broken database will also overwrite the good ones... the more you have, the bigger the chances are that you can restore a good version.

Hello, I was given a Wordpress website that hasn’t ever been backed up or updated since 2018. If I used this backup and updated all the plugins and themes and things went wrong, would I be able restore the website back to the way it was before those updates?

Hi there! Thanks for the question. If you have a backup, try putting it back. Then first update plugins, then theme and then WordPress itself. After that, maybe new updates are possible so update again plugins & theme. Then empty caches and see if the website is still alive 😀👍🏻 When it’s not, you can try to fix it or put the backup in place again ☺️

Hi, my web host just terminated my hosting and I didn't make back ups. Does that means that my website is totally lost or I can still goes to an earlier version on my site, the unchanged version and work again from there ? Or does that mean I need to order a new website from my CMS provider ?

Hi Ryback! Thanks for your question. That does not sound good, why did they terminate it? Well if they are angry with you for example, I think there is no way to get to the files again... You should make a new website from scratch or sort things out with the company...

Hi JMM! From inside of WordPress, just pick and use another way of backup. But make sure to also just go into your DropBox and delete the connection from there. Its the best way as the connection is really closed from there. 😀

I got an email on Jan 10th from Hostinger saying domain not connected! Was still pointing to old server! Once corrected, they showed site not looking like it should on Geopeeker! (An old home page some days prior) removed WP Cache plugin as requested, + https security added then all new pages I had written for the previous week just gone! Hostinger absolutely useless thereafter - 25 mins between chat comments!!!!!

I stupidly pressed the wrong button in adding a new user and pressed on delete all content by accident. It did just that and I lost everything. I tried restoring from the Updraft and it said the restore failed. This is not good. Any suggestions?

Hi there! Thanks for the question! Oh yeah sometimes we press the wrong button… if updraft failed, you should also could restore the website (or only the database) from within your hosting company. They should have daily backups. I would ask them to put one back 😎

Hi there! thanks for your question. In this case I would just ust FTP, rename the Theme folder and put a standard theme in their like twenty twenty three for example.
