12-07-23 - WPT aka Weird Picking Thing
Just another tune that began with a weird pick-scraping shape. There's not a lot going on with the guitars on this tune but all the programming and drum patterns were very fun to experiment with. Apologies for the video being kinda boring to look at, I've not been feeling great the last couple of days so my energy/patience is done this week. Hope you enjoy the tune and see ye next week.

Kmac understands how to use harmonic tension/release in a chord progression while creating fun, interesting rhythms, so you get these voicings that are so technically quirky and full of personality. I think he may be one of the only guitarists out there that can very evenly strike that balance of intrigue for musicians and non-musicians; you don't need to play to enjoy the expressiveness, but if you do there's always something charming to pick up by analyzing it.

Not boring to look at, at all, man. I just love watching you play. The intro, the parts, the solo, the arrangement, the organ(!)... man, what a great weird picking thing that is. This is what I love about creating music. You come up with a thing and suddenly it leads somewhere, suddenly it just flows out of you. For me, most of the time, it goes in completely different directions than the original idea and sometimes even becomes 3 or 4 seperate tracks. I guess what I'm trying to say is... you are so very talented, and every time I watch your latest video, I just can't wait for the next - every single time. Like with Ronald Jenkees, the same thing, don't know why, but I give more of a fuck when he or you upload than any other band or artist I'm a fan of. I can only hope for many more years of your awesome music, man.
