Spot on, I would love to see a objective performance/speed test of Jetengine Vs ACF. I think, allot of people group Jetengine with the bundled Croco suite that is often used in Elementor. I'd be most interested in the plain test. But possible a pairing with ACF/WpGridbuilder Vs Jet/Smartfilters would also be interesting.

I like Concrete CMS, open-source, page builder, form builder, multisite, blog, etc. It also has Express which is a No-Code/Low-Code way to create relational data models, the main issues I do have, is that there's not as many plugins, row and column are little strange. At the moment I'm using WP + BB

I’m amazed that’s still active, originally it was called concrete5 and it had some really unique features that none of the other cms,s like joomla, Drupal and even Wordpress didn’t have but for some reason it just never really took off, glad to see it’s still being developed, I must revisit it

I wachted the Etch live, the vision for it is quite a big departure from what we currently do in WordPress. Firstly, it will be a page builder, the way they want to differentiate is that whatever you build in this page builder will be written directly to core blocks. He talked at length that etch can be uninstalled without breaking site functionality. The vision itself is that everything is unified and written to core, that the UX/UI allows you to do everything from one screen - this will in effect make many critical plugins (ACF, page builders etc) obsolete IF it works.

I think it's hilarious that etch is going to be somewhat of a plugin that is built upon Guttenberg
@tudorcelstan11 күн бұрын
It's not though, if the promise is respected you can always turn off Gutenberg rendering and render directly through Etch. What it will do is integrate with Gutenberg, and solely for content management (not for design) at that.
@MarciaRobinsonz11 күн бұрын
Its actually not remotely close to being a plugin nor a theme. More of a complete UI overhaul with direct core functionality into Wordpress as opposed to a proprietary builder approach, and with features that make the need for other popular plugins redundant. E.g. Less context swapping during site development to make efficiency much much better.

How come no one ever mentions Duda as a WP alternative? Are they scared because it is too good and it solves all the big issues with WP in one fell stroke???
@EvanPrenger11 күн бұрын
Duda sucks.. we use it for super simple 2-3 page sites at my job but the customization sucks, no access to the files or database, cannot use dynamic data unless using Google Sheets or Airtable. All websites looks the same and the code output is awful. they use no semantic tags outside of heading and paragraph tags. The headers and footers don't even use header or footer tags
@EvanPrenger11 күн бұрын
forgot to add it's also vendor lock in like Webflow. So you can't move your site to a different server if you wanted to like you can with wordpress

@@EvanPrenger If it does what I need it to do, I could care less. I like the editor. My client loves it. No endless array of plugins to manage and pay for. No figuring out what host to use. What Wix or Squarespace do with their data is simply NONE of WordPress' business.
