I like the idea of a floating home, especially when you consider the rising & falling of the tides & storm surges that cause damage to beachfront properties as well as marine life anyway

Only thing that stays the same is everything changes. I would think as long as your not getting in the way of traffic. And have a proper waste disposal system. The land people complaining that it might cause pollution. Many things they do runs right off in the water. And the only thing land people are really worried about it their property value. And view.

To be fair to the people complaining: They paid a ton of money for a beautiful and unobstructed view. To have someone permanently park what is essentially a floating shed in the middle of that view is wrong. There are marinas and riverbanks that he could park his boat. Why does he have to do it in this spot? I'm also confused how he could buy plot of land that is under water. I thought water was public land.

Sometimes the land under the water is considered private property, we had that with our floating home in Portland Oregon...

Problem is he is on property he owns that is deeded and legal. He is not in front of them as those properties lay to the right of theirs.

This is just another case of the NIMBY's. The have their view and don't want anyone else to have it. The guy is right and it might take another court case for him to get his address that he wants.

The idea that its not a boat is absurd, it floats doesn't it? Now what I didn't understand is if he actually owned property that had now been covered by water, if so he should build a Venice style house. What's also BS is that he "needs" an address to file taxes etc. he can get that just like any other full time RVer what he wants it THAT address. Upon more info if that is deeded land he deserves an address, BUTTTTT what a about building codes and planning and zoning? is a boat house approved? I doubt it

I lived on a sailboat over there . That house won’t hold up in a hurricane and wouldn’t be able to move quick enough to avoid one either . If you want to live on the water then buy a boat that’s designed for the water
