Jim Gardner is retiring at the end of this year. He just had his final 11 pm broadcast and will continue at 6 pm. I live in Allentown, PA area. This theme song predates Jim, Jim started in 1976 and started May 11, 1977 at 6 and 11 pm and the theme song was used since 1972.

Next Wednesday night - the end of an era as Jim Gardner officially hands the torch to Brian Taff and Rick Williams for the 6 and 11 PM newscasts at 6ABC. Jim, thanks for 45 years...and thanks for the memories, old friend. Best of luck in retirement.

Wow! You reached all the way back to 1993-97 for that one. Of the names mentioned, only Jim and Rick are still there: Jim is the longest-tenured Channel 6 personality (1976). With Monica leaving last year, Rick became the second-longest tenured (1988 - Monica had him beat by just a few months).
