Nice. Great mix of great music. T99. That was a big techno song. Hot 97 use to play it everyday in early 92. That and James Brown is dead.

Anytime I played techno in the mix I tried to squeeze as many other techno tracks in that 5 minutes...because we had so many tracks coming out at that time.

All these mixes are amazing! I used to stay up late and record them on cassette when I was a little kid. Legendary!

This is only 23 minutes of a 4 hour show that plays tons of classic tracks from back then!

Jeff when you say you remixed most of the tracks on the show, what do you mean exactly?? Also were most of the shows pre recorded and edited before they were aired? Or did you play live?

I would rearrange the track for the mix and use a Sampler to trigger some custom intros and outs. I would have tons of my personal edits and remixes that I would use for the show that Hot 97 played as Hot mixes. This had to be recorded live on reel days before it would be aired. It was very difficult because of the mixed format of music. The Laissez Faire was my 12' mix I did for Metropolitan Records with a different intro.

Jeff Romanowski excellent work. Most people don’t realize and take for granted the creativity involved with these mixes that you have produced during your tenure. I can appreciate this program and the other programs I used to listen to. Especially “sounds of the New York Underground” and the “all night house party”.
