Now time to hard-body;)
Parts came in shortly after the test run of course. Got everything together and tweaked suspension slightly. Took it back to the trail I was recently because of that large root section at the beginning of the video. Only truck to make it up is the vs410 hardbody.., so wanted to make sure this lexan build could do it. Of course the more times I try the more dug out the section gets. I need more rock...
Keeping my eye on the rear driver-side tire.., quite wobbly; hopefully rim is not bent (but just foam issues).
Need a couple larger driver heads to complete .., these look a little small.
Been wanting one of these axial wraith 1.9 ever since watching my buddies in action. I couldn’t believe how planted his was…
Found a used one for a good deal…, knowing I had to change a lot of the build . All electronics had to go…, was setup as a rock bouncer.
Took it all apart to paint it all., body, cage and links etc. One of previous owners did the fast back mod to the cage. Also they/ he made custom front and rear bumpers and rock slider (sliders are always a pro vs con scenario).
Traded the axial gray trans for a vanquish 3 gear.., thanks to another friend…. Trying to keep it light.
Purchased a chassis/ bumper brace (BP).
Amazon shocks 80’s front, 90’s with mod for rear; filled with 50wt.
Well used proline trenchers…, didn’t realize it had expensive discontinued rc4wd 1.9 rock tamer rims.
Put in a generic wraith interior
Traded the scx10ii axles for a set of ssd diamonds I had kicking around.., added a little brass and underdrive gears to the back. Not sure about brass pancakes for front…, too much weight? Still has a bit of nasty torque twist even after underdrive and heavier shock on back passenger side (add an elastic to front driver side)?
Was a bit surprised on how little flex this rig has even after adding a little more travel to rear. Also the front geometry (3 link/ pan-hard) was a huge pain…, might have it now. A little anal I’m having full/ equal compression on either side. Have a longer servo so had to trim the steering rate.
Running a hobbywing 2 in 1…, also went down a couple pinion sizes.
Shortly after the run; my parts came in (earlier than expected). Put in the underdrive gears, interior, bobble heads, lites, and accessories. I have a set of ssd curved links (panhard, servo arm); if current setup doesn’t work out.
Of course I’m thinking about hard-bodying this one already. Would it be a shame.., since it’s a discontinued body/ chassis? Think it needs to be done….;)
