(Z can go in front of AEO, Y can hook many things, even from the front, and A can go either side of many letters.) Words that start and end with C or V, like VIVIFIC, are almost impossible to play as a bingo, since C and V are the hardest letters to hook or overlap with, and I and F are terrible for extending a word. Yeah, the OED has usage for 'laggy' relating to computer games and programs going back to 1991, and an earlier usage meaning 'sluggish' in general going back to 1860. No idea how it took Collins so long to add it.
@frankmerrill2366Ай бұрын
@@JorWat25 I was, of course, thinking of the 1860 definition. I've used it, after all, without even knowing if the word existed. It entirely makes sense.

The stats for three letter combos have me wondering: What's the statistically worst possible 7 letter rack?
@AlexDingsАй бұрын
Something like UUUUIII. Basically any combination of seven bad vowels will be practically useless in almost any situation. Consonants at least allows some scoring most of the time
@SuperN57Ай бұрын
@@AlexDingsI'd argue IIIIIII is a bit worse, UUUUIII is a bit more diverse

UUUUIII might be worse on account of the fact that it also means your opponent isn't stuck with the Us.

if abt, tmr, staycay, dnr, and other similar "words" aren't valid then neither should be Covid. An abbreviation can simply be an abbreviation and be perfectly well-suited.
@frankmerrill2366Ай бұрын
I didn't expect it to be added, because acronyms seldom get wordized. Like, nasa isn't a word...but snafu, fubar were originally slang acronyms in the military, both meaning basically the same thing...

NASA isn’t in scrabble bc it’s a proper noun. Acronyms (and blends in the case of covid) become common words pretty often, like laser, scuba, etc., though it’s a little surprising that “COVID” turned into “covid” almost immediately.
