One of the biggest tips in EDCing is the ability to use and manage it no matter the amount of “layers.” I’ve found that using appendix or high OWB like this is key for discreetness. Because, well, brandishing and getting in trouble is a possibility.

I remember seeing one of those safariland holsters (slightly different in “airsoft” model and didn’t have the nice multicam cover) come free of a team leader in Iraq during (thankfully) a training op. Imagine a guy running through a field back towards a chopper when suddenly he realizes his pistol is tumbling across the ground behind him. Props on him for realizing it by the time I and others called out to him because boy would that have been a headache if he made it on the chopper back to base before he realized he no longer had it.

You shouldn't use the Safariland UBL with belts that are less than 2-2.25". Safariland states this themselves. You can have problems drawing as the holster will move. They make other belt attachments that will bolt right on that are built specifically for narrower belts.

Hi mr Wranglerstar, this is off topic regarding the video. I have a question. You should maybe talk with your wifes mother about this, she should know about it and could explain it since she is swedish. We have in Sweden and Norway and Finland, and some other countries I guess in some level, the term written in the law. Called "allemansrätten", frredom to roam in english I guess it is. That means, you could not forbid me to, if you where a land owner in Sweden, to be in you forest, to pick berries, to enjoy nature, camp, make a small bonfire. Of course it comes with responsibilities. I cannot cut down trees, and destroy .I can take branches from the ground, dry dead ones from the trees, I can make a fire with responsibility to make sure it can be done without danger. I can cross fields, but I have to make sure to be carefull if there is crops (especially if it is newly planted). Or if there are animals, I have to make sure to shut the gate, and show respect to the animals, take a way around them, move calm and carefull. Basically I can enjoy nature, be on your land and you have no right to stop me and I do not need to ask for your permission. But there are also restrictions, I will not enter the area closest to where you live, your house. This is a concept I noticed you yankees simply cannot understand, I've had this discussion with some others and good Lord how upset they get, really! USA was founded by people who wanted to get away from all the restriction the european kings and rulers put on the people. The kings who owned nearly everything. The people wanted to find a land where they could move free and live free. So what do you have now in USA? Now you all are your own small kings and have your small kingdoms , your small properties, (bytheway stolen, let us frankly accept the facts that the europeans came and pushed the people away who were there allready!) wich you now guard armed to your teeth. You have so much land and some have so, so much. But you will not share. God forbid I take one step on your property. It is that selfish mentality I cannot understand as a Swede growing up in a country where nature is concidered a right for everyone to enjoy. All those berries in the forest you never will pick yourself for example, but God forbid someone else takes them. I don't understand your mentality, but then again it reflects in your countries history of violence. Now you will argue you have decignatet areas, wildforests, people can go to, but that is not the same. So in my eyes you are not the land of the free. You are so trapped and restricted by your selfishness, your, "me and mine" egoism. One argument I heard you claim people might get injured on your land, you are afraid of lawsuits, but come on, give me a break! No you should learn the Scandinavian way and maybe that would help you getting a softer mentality in your country. But maybe I am wrong, looking at Sweden today. But then again 99 percent of the violence we see here now is done by imigrants. But the point is, I just don't get your mentality in USA. If I would own a forest, I would love having people strolling around there enjoying it, I would love having neighbours children there building small huts a perhaps also a treehouse. I would really enjoy giving them that childhood of adventure the nature can give. I would not mind they eating my berries, fishing my fish. Enjoy my land, but hey, don't missuse it, don't destroy.

The leg straps work very well to keep the holster in place during your draw specifically. But they need to be tensioned and not loose around your leg like the video shows. If you fudge your draw you can sometimes lift the bottom of the holster from your leg and pin the gun towards your body where it wont come out. The leg strap gives you more room for error basically.

I have the level 3 retention holster from safariland. People say "oh you won't get your gun out in time" and my response is, well, that is true for somebody who doesn't know the holster platform. But if you are like me and you train with it every day, you're gonna find that you can draw it just as quick or even quicker than a retentionless holster. The important thing to remember is train somewhere where they let you simulate a stress response (i.e. running, push ups, etc for heart rate, and other such high stress training) to really make your muscle memory for drawing from the holster more concrete, even when you're in a high stress situation such as being near an active shooter or being threatened on your property. I always suggest using holsters with some level of retention when you are open carrying because you have to assume if you are open carrying, there is at least 1 set of eyes resting on that gun thinking about how they can steal it from you and it isn't a good look to always be basically leaning on that gun and looking every which way.
