I think it’s also called a hot tent. Not so much here in Australia, but in the USA what Cody is doing is priceless. If you have land in the country this is possible.

Been watching these great videos for some time now. I'm happy to report I took the plunge and bought 5 Acres with a home and barn on the land, all in good working order. Hopefully mortgage free in a few years and the final chapter of my life should be the most enjoyable. I now have a new appreciation for this content and the message it brings. Thanks PROHO!

That feeling of being confident and competent is the intangible gift you’ve given so many men over the years. That spark of, “Hey, I think I could probably do that!” is a powerful thing! Thanks, Cody!

Beloved, a big thing we learned in the Army. Take care of your tools. You need your feet to do your job. Take care of them. Relying on calluses only get you so far. You will never be as productive as the man next to you wearing boots. Get over the mental thing. Act accordingly.

This is what folks live in up in Alaska, and they're built on river rafts. Obviously, they are very large rafts, with and few smaller sleeping tents, and one huge kitchen\livingroom tent. They live all winter iced in, and either working a Gold claim, or hunting and fishing etc. This would be a great idea to live in while building a homestead. In fact the frame from this, could be made into a storage shed, perhaps with a crawl space below for food storage.

Why not notch the posts so the weight is carried to the ground through wood instead of relying on the shear strength of a structural screw? I know the screws may be rated for it, but isn't it still a possible point of failure in the future?

I find it a bit weird that the weight of the structure is not directly on the ground posts but instead on the planks that are screwed to the posts from aside. It basically makes the entire weight being set onto the screws only. It’s probably fine if the lifespan of the building is not very long and especially if the ground is very stable and doesn’t move with seasons nor allow posts to sink unevenly.

Love watching your videos but I would like to make a suggestion. The CROWN of the grain of wood should always be down , or in, towards the piece you are nailing to, so when the wood weathers the corners don't pull away from the piece they are nailed to. Maybe I'm wrong but it appears that you may have done the opposite. No big crime but a good practice to follow none the less. Keep up the good work.

Would have to circle back to this question when the lives return , but I’ve really been considering purchasing a modular home along side some affordable land. Running the numbers , I can get 5 acres min with a modular home for under $200k . Nowadays modular homes look pretty indistinguishable from a built as home. Thought ?
