Thanks for being yet one more example of what some of us senior fans love about Purdue (generally as an institution but specifically as a MBB program) - namely, the dependable, the familiar, the whatever-it-is that has us reaching for that old flannel shirt over the new [ flashy, faddish, …] ones we don’t know if we can count on or even like). // I guess the interior defense will, in the short term, be one of the two or three uncertainties going forward; but until that gets clearer [and it will, for better or worse, in the sternest-opponent games of pre-conference play], it’s a joy to see a promising mix of both offensive ability and defensive eagerness in two young guards at the perimeter. Braden’s offensive production and court leadership, along with Fletch’s savvy and opportunistic contribution at the two will be a mainstay; so, you’re right - it’s the what and how and who at the 5 that remains a big question-mark, and on that score, one can only suppose that Matt’s proven genius in finding what works best given his option on the side of personnel will show itself in due course. Patience and some optimism will have to carry us through November and December. It won’t be boring, whatever transpires. // great stuff as always. Thanks again, Brian. It was 14 minutes in until any mention of Myles Colvin or Cam Heide. Painter did not mention them at all in his PC. Not sure what that says about their roles this year but I hope it’s bigger than this.

I agree BUT it looks like they didn't improve enough and or the freshmen are just better. To me this isn't good news, but Painter is 100x the coach I would ever be, so I have to guess he knows who to start. From the outside though, this appears to be disappointing. I had high hopes for Heide. Colvin, I honestly had less hope for, but the ceiling could be higher. My hope for a strong 5 also appears to be gone, but I do think their 7'4" dude could be really good by the end of the year "if" he improves. Then there is Furst. Man this makes me so sad. A Mr. Basketball. A guy who could score well and has a good shot, now afraid to shoot. What happened? I see Purdue being a very good team this year but not able to beat the elite teams. I hope I am wrong though.

..I’ll be surprised if Heide stays and perhaps Colvin as well. Painter is a terrific coach of course but we’ll see how he finesses this without losing those two…tough situation to be sure..

i was there...Colvin looks fine, I'd even say improved.....Heidi did not attempt a shot in almost 20 minutes??? I think we are going to trick ourselves into hot and cold moments with every player aside from TKR. This team has various weapons and does not need to utilize the same strategy every game. This will be a fun style of play to watch and if they are able to gel, this team will be just as good as last year's.
