How to Slay Bumpers

This week we've got an awesome project on a GTI Golf R with a total color change and custom graphics! We're going to demonstrate the process of wrapping a bumper and some of the tricks that you might not have considered in dealing with them.

Great video. This really shows the value of having two people. I did my MR2 alone and really struggled with the front and especially the rear bumper - just so hard to get it glassed when you initially lay it.

Look into the Hotshot IR heater. They are a tad pricey but they make bumper wraps go on like butter. Plus they are awesome for post heating. Turn the timer on and let it post heat.

super dope. wasnt aware that 3m is more adhesive line prone. im the most familiar with avery 900 ez rs supreme wrap series. but would you guys have an order of preference as far as the major brands of vinyl like 3m/avery/vvivid/oracal etc?

Does adhesive lines show through the vinyl ? I notice y’all stress it a lot in the video

808kea808 with 3M we take extra precaution.if your yanking up material or leaving it bridged, It does show through.

WrapSesh ok cool. Thanks for the reply. So it is cool to heat it then apply it with a little stretch. I’ve seen some videos where the person emphasized on cold stretching and highlighted the benefit fits of not needing a heat gun till the pair heat.

808kea808 I guess that would depend on the piece. Not so complex stretch you can cold stretch. Most large panels we are doing a heated prestrech then wrapping close to edges, heat to release, then wrap around edges and postheat.
