I think other people's problem with the pacing comes from the fact that they don't consider the "cinematic/music video-esque" scene as part of the entire story but just a cool "animation flex" which they are, don't get me wrong. But those scene alone already tells us a lot than any info dumping ever will. I think especially with songs that are fast paced like in episode 2. Most reactors even forget that that bit tells a story about the team raiding the undercity. So they are surprised when the smoke revealed it's actually Cait and Vi's team.

Even the songs. The lyrics itself is telling a story but most just shrugged it off as nothing important. I guess it just shows how we're not used to this kind of artistic presentation that most people would only appreciate it on their rewatch. I guess Arcane is just built different and ahead of its time.

My bad - Yeah...just a bit of an extra thought on that - where they left off in season 1..and knowing they wanted to wrap the show in this season.. it was obvious they had to hit on key moments but since we all already knew the release format...9 eps total, that it was going to be quick...it just really caught me offguard during ep1...I feel like by this episode im a bit more used to it but still it feels a bit overwhelming sometimes. You're bang on correct about getting so much info from the still scenes and its such a joy that we can get so much information from the show this way in only a handful of seconds. Amazing artistry.

2 important characters you should know about who weren't present physically but were there 1- The statue in the underworld you can see in the grey air vent, random people of Zaun praying, and Jinx trap scene,,, that's Jana an ancient and mysterious wind spirit who was praised by both piltover and Zaun's people but now only Zaun. 2- The blood magic scene with Ambessa and Mel was actually Black Rose. The Black Rose is a secretive cabal, very powerful led by the Noxian aristocracy especially "Leblanc". Leblanc is an ancient(thousand years old) powerful witch, dominating and brain-controlling people all around the Runeterra (their world). And Amara isn't the witch she was corrupted by Leblanc.

I found that the fast pacing is mostly caused by being super exited on the first watch where every episode feels like 10 minutes long, the rewatch was where I got most of the details and nuanced storytelling. I'm 4 rewatches in on Act 1 alone and I'm fine with the pacing right now, that could change if I feels its too fast.

That was essentially a scene of Caitlyn committing war crimes that you were vibing to like that. Caitlyn turned the ventilation system her family designed for providing clean air to the Undercity into a delivery system for poison gas that she used to mask her fuck tactical incursion mission into Zaun. She pumped poison gas to help cover their raids. Those images on her mom's microfiche files showed what the crap does to the human body when aspirated. That's why Jinx rerouted the ventilation back up to Piltover. It was retaliation for the diabolical shit that Caitlyn had unleashed down there while they were hunting for her. She even called Vi out on it just prior to that fight. You do get all that right? 🤔
