7:55 You don't need to track the specific mob type that you're fighting. As long as any tracking is active (except "Track hidden"), you get the bonus dmg to everything.

@@Haldir030 Was confirmed on beta a long time ago. The version Bigbobbedboi is talking about in this video was only in for a short time at the beginning of original Wotlk before Blizzard redesigned the talent. In classic we're getting the redesigned version.

Started out as BM hunter in tbc, and briefly tested out MM in the start of WoTLK. Didn't feel too hyped about the lack of damage I saw compared to others, so figured I would test out surv as well to compare. And it's a huge difference in early phases! I'm doing trap hopping, and I find it pretty fun because it feels like a more challenging playstyle. There's a lot more going on timing wise to get a smooth rotation, and it has really pushed my skill up a bit. Also I just like explosions :) I do agree that it requires a lot more boss knowledge to really maximise your damage. Big bosses literally stomping on the trap and still not triggering it have me pulling my hair out. So it takes some trial and error to learn which bosses you can consistently use traps, and which is better to just use black arrow. I also disagree on survival not being a class that can move. Sniper training takes 6 sec of standing still to trigger, but it lasts for 15 sec after that. Which means you have a 9 sec window where you can move with the buff. So tigger it, run to the boss and drop trap, and then still have time to get back and stand still for it to trigger again with no downtime. Only really works on stationary bosses of course. Still working on getting the hang on this new spec, but so far I'm having fun with it

I’d recommend dropping Glyph of Kill Shot in favor of Glyph of Aspect of the Hawk until you’re starting to gem armor pen for the MM build. The extra AP is better for lower gearing.

I personally think the CD reduction is often the difference between getting a kill shot off on multiple mobs per pack vs 1 maybe 2 if lucky, so I think it's worth the attack power bonus, for bosses that die fairly fast then I could see how kill shot wouldn't get all that much usage

Leveled a hunter in SOM and loved it. Going to Xfer to WOTLK once that becomes available. Gonna be a massive shift in gameplay going from vanilla to WOTLK. Really like this a lot. Super helpful. One thing that would be incredibly useful for me(I have some eyesight issues) would be if, where you say something like "And that looks like this..." , and you show your screen... if you could just add a voice over edit where you simply say the spell/ability you're using as you use it? I'm wearing my +10 to squinting gnome goggles but still can't make out where your clicking/using or just add it as large text in the middle of the screen for a second or so? Regardless, again, I really appreciate this video. Thank you.

For Marksman, I'm not even sure arcane shot is worth using over steady shot, especially if you have a decent amount of armor pen. In prepatch, I had been just removing it out of my rotation outside of moving and just inserting another steady shot.

You only need to track one of the mentioned to get the bonus. Not the exact type, just one of then. Track humanoid macroed to hunters mark for example and track hidden macroed to flare for example

@Hoenheim Elric Correct Track Hidden does not work for the 5% damage buff. However Track Hidden is still useful in combat outside of the damage buff. Being able to increase stealth detection to sniff out rogues and feral druids easier.

used survival spec during wrath of the lich king, all the way into ICC. it is a very active and focusses around lock and load triggers. use the 7% hit, the haste plateaus ( the plateaus are hit when you can cast 1 extra aimshot during your rotation) and then high crit

@@sneekyshot1 haste reduces the timer it is on cd, not entirely sure what the spell really is called aimed or steady 🤔. It is a core shot that doesnt waste mana i believe, and the time it takes for your other abilities to come back from their cd you can shoot 1, 2 or with insane haste 3 of them in one rotation.

Haste reduces time on 2 things for hunters, auto shots and steady shots, our lowest GCD we can get is 1.5s, so getting steady shot under that is useless, and explosive shot isn't affected by haste

I started out as marks but recently switched to surv! Didn't think I was going to like it either but so far it's pretty much the same as marks. Did hours of testing and my dps numbers are slightly higher with surv and it's definitely more mana efficient! Don't think marks will pull ahead until at least phase 2.

Can you or someone post a macro of the rotation. I had one before in Cata where it would run through the whole thing and reset back to the start when finished all in one button and it worked great and allowed me free up some keybinds for other utility stuff. Great video thanks for the info.

Hey fellow hunters, I've been really enjoying survival hunter and trap weaving has been a blast (for the right boss) my gear score is in the 4400s but my parses are bad (like can't get more than greens) I've been doing marksman and parsing better but I just don't think it's as fun as survival spec. Any tips on what resources to use to improve my performance with survival spec? I don't want to give it up :(

I'm really liking alchemy on my hunter for Endless Mana Potion. You can just chug it on cd in heroics and never have to drink or use viper in combat anymore. You also get a free 80 attack power when you don't have a better flask up with Flask of the North. It's nice.

Regarding improved tracking... im 99.99% sure that you get the damage bonus as long as you have 1 tracking type active, regardless of you tracking the right type of mob. So as long as you have track humanoids for example, you get the 5% damage bonus for all mobs you can track. I clearly remember Blizzard changing this sometime in Wrath and it worked like this on all private servers i've played

dw melee attacks restore mana per hit (very fast). if you're at a point where u need mana, sometimes viper/oom is already effecting your damage enough to where its better to get in melee range (+r1 raptor strike) for an almost instant +30% mana in like 2s. explosive shot DoT restores mana per hit; so dragonhawk, explosive shot, viper, dragonhawk rinse repeat. LnL proc and spam stance weave per shot (hard); basically you'll never oom on SV while keeping the damage of explosive shot.

Ye hunter is now like arms warrior and stance dance. You use your main skills while in dragonhawk and while steady shooting u use Viper to gain some mana. Is cool tho. Easy to use and macro is your best friend.

. Just a few things to mention for P1. I wouldnt pick up Aimed Shot as SV due to its low dmg output. Its a wasted talent imo. Also Wyvern Sting and Noxious Stings arent really worth picking up because the damage is negligible. Rather u could put the points into 2/3 Hunting Party for mana and Point of No Escape 2/2 for trash clearing. You could alternatively put the 2 point from Point of No Escape into Improved Aspect of the Hawk or Improved Hunters Mark.

Its worth. Even if you have 2 pve specs its still nice. For example you could have this marks spec for single target and the marks spec with improved traps and explosove trap glyph for cleave/aoe fights

Survival does way way more damage than marksman or BM in phase 1 wotlk. It makes MM look like a pathetic joke. Trap weaving with glyph of explosive shot is better than anything any other spec has to offer in phase 1

He doesn't like Surv?????? That is absolutely ridiculous phase 1. Surv is S class phase 1 wrath. My hunter is number 1 DPS in my guild. The MM hunter isn't bad but it isn't as good as Surv. This will change of course in phase 2-3, but Surv is awesome to play. I don't think this guy knows what he is talking about.
