WRC 2005 - The benching of Duval

Now going into Round 7 of the season Rally Turkey Sebastien Loeb was on fire having won the last 3 rallies in New Zealand, Sardinia and Cyprus to open up an 11 point lead in the drivers championship. Plus Citroen and Turkey was a potent combination as they had won the previous 2 trips there in 2004 and 2003 so all was grand at Citroen right? Well not quite their number 2 Francois Duval's dream move to Citroen from Ford had descended into a nightmare and after another high profile error last time out in Cyprus which resulted in his Xsara going up in smoke, co-driver Stephane Prevot walking out on him and the team losing more ground to Peugeot in the constructors championship it was time for drastic action as Jon Desborough and Robbie Head explain.

I still think Francois Duval was a great driver, was really fast when he kept it on the road.
