Everytime I watch footage of Dirt 4 I feel pissed off and violated. I can't believe that crap came out after Dirt Rally. If you want a new rally game, play WRC 7, or just Dirt Rally. If you didn't know already, by looking at Dirt 4, you'd think it came before Dirt Rally.

apexazimuth id rather have quality over quantity, dirt 4 has more modes, than it and also has more vehicles than wrc 7, and most of all, physics are more realistic than wrc 7, I've played both games, and Dirt 4 is really close to rl, wrc 7 on the other hand feels like the sega rally game at gameworks.

WRC 7 is definitely more realistic than Dirt4 as far as physics go. The reason it looks that way to you is because the cars of WRC 7 are the fastest, most advanced rally cars ever built. They have downforce comparable to hillclimb cars giving them very high traction and the suspension and transmission systems in 2017 WRC cars are quite advanced. Compare WRC 7 footage to real onboard footage and you'll see there isn't alot of difference. Braking distance is a bit short in WRC 7 compared to real life but everything else is near spot-on. It looks ridiculously fast because it is. The 2017 cars would give Group B a real run for their money, probably even overtake them.

apexazimuth yea, but you cant compare the two because the dirt franchise doesn't have licening for that just because wrc games use iffical wrc car's, thats whay dirt is pushing rallycross and landrush (trophy trucks), i get your point, but to me wrc 7 feels like early dirt rally physics, very moon-like, one thing that wrc has better rn is Powerslideing, the cars in dirt like to correct themselves, even on simulation with assists off, but asides from that, i like the feel of dirt better, at least wrc trys tho, so thumbs up to them, very few games will beat the original games like colin McRay dirt and way older 90's games, only time will tell if Codemasters will beat itself.;

Wolfgang Koeppen I haven’t actually given dirt 4’s non-rally events much of a go and I’ve heard RX is actually spot on. I’ve never been a fan of rallycross myself, but I still prefer it over most circuit racing. In code masters Dirt 4 launch livestream the game director said that they made big improvements to the physics but most of their time was spent fine tuning rallycross to perfection. They didn’t have enough time to consult WRC Citroen driver Kris Meeke to get the Rally side of the game right. So the physics improvements they made for rallycross unintentionally made Rally play poorly. The biggest thing Dirt Rally lacks is aerodynamics which is why it feels like driving on mars gravity sometimes. They added an aero model for Dirt 4!but the traction physics didn’t take well to added downforce, making things feel just weird. Kyloton had plenty of time working with a real WRC engineer to nail the feel of the game so the interplay of downforce, suspension, and friction physics all come together really well and that explains the similarity to real on-board footage. WRC 7’s sound, UI, and feature diversity are definitely inferior to Dirt 4, but the feel of WR7’s Rally is pure bliss, whereas Dirt 4’s Rally feels awkward and sidelined. I’m all about the Rally so WRC 7 easily beats Dirt 4 for me. What does surprise me is how the graphics and sound in Dirt 4 took a step down from Dirt Rally. That was a bummer to me.

WRC 7 has change completely since WRC 1. Forget WRC1, 2, 3, 4... This is a huge change, WRC 6 is bad (but good as a rally game) compared with WRC 7.

But it’s totally incorrect! 1st. the fiesta in wrc7 is a wrc not r5 compare whit dirt4 r5 fiesta. 2.nd the polo and a Mini Cooper in wrc7 is not 600hp compared in dirt4 rx polo and mini. So it’s coming completely different sounds! In totally the Wrc7 vs. Dirt4 is incorrect!!!!! That’s my point. I like both games.

I'm a fan of both series. I'm not sure why you included coverage of WRC 7 driving in mostly grey and terrible weather conditions, and DIRT 4 in mostly bright and beautiful day conditions. This obviously has a huge impact on graphics, and will substantially affect car ride and sound of the car in games like this as well. Also, my least favorite thing about DIRT 4 is that when I started my career, the second race of that game had me driving in impenetrable fog ... the kind of weather that would make the IRC cancel a rally stage. So it's misleading for a viewer and potential buyer to make their choice based on the beautiful day that the DIRT 4 car is driving through. Anyway, thanks for posting.

Simple dirt 4 has over saturated graphics, To get proper driving in it you need a wheel. Otherwise because of lack of actual driving experience it lacks in comparison. The bloom is also over done in dirt 4 but that is not a bad thing. Dirt 4 has more cars. So dirt 4 is a rally driving game where dirt rally is a rally simulation. I personally enjoy both. When i used to drive for molten motor club in north Yorkshire England I bumped into a guy called Colin Mcrae who at the time drove a Subaru. We had one race together at dolbi forest in north Yorkshire and the dirt rally footage is very similar to what it feels like. So dirt 4 is a game rally is more of a sim.

wrc 7 more realistic graphics - wrc 7 13 locations ? vs Dirt 4 , 5 locations ? it's a half game . it's should be sold for the half price ! put your money on WRC 7 , more locations , more tracks ( the repetition Dirt 4 tracks build in game don't count ) Dirt 4 looks like PS3 game remake for PS4 , it's nice but less real looks alike , and a very short game , 5 locations it's a joke , even PS 2 race games gave more locations than crap 5 , F1 games , WRC games , G Turismo and specially Project Cars give us a lot of different locations , Forza i still learning and getting better , but codemasters it's a joke in their Rally games , Dirt was Great " still " but since Dirt 2 they are using the brand ...and make a half game , they have to change it , WRC 7 it's the best Rally out now ... WRC 8 will be even better if they add more Cars , classic ones , like subaru & Celica and specially a Classic Championship mode as well , not just a single Race , they have the license....should explore more it than be stuck on actual year only ...

The frame rate in Dirt 4 never drops below 60 on ps4 pro. I think it's only 30 fps in WRC7 though.
