It’s a pain having to change my driving style to accommodate the different physics and handling models, I’ll stick with Dirt 2.0, on a controller it feels fantastic and the car list is a lot more varied, also the audio quality of the Co-Driver is in a different league with dirt rally 2, the co driver in WRC sounds like he is communicating through a walkie talkie stood on the track side.

Because Dirt Rally is a proper simulation, and in real rallying most co-drivers don't tell you to brake. The calls for the next corners speak for themselves. Professional drivers know you don't enter a 3 at 200KM/H, they don't need to be told this.

I'm going to say it. I've been playing Dirt 2.0 for a bit now and just recently tried out WRC 8. Both on PC. I'm using a Fanatec CSW 2.5 with a Bmw gt2 wheel with V3 pedals mounted on a GT Omega Apex wheel stand. This game is amazing with them. So much so I'm willing to say the feedback physics are better than DR2.0 once you dial them in. Longer stages...more stages...real drivers...better career...and a huge practice area. On the other hand I'd say Dirt Rally 2.0 has better sound, overall graphics, damage physics (more punishing), and a better variety of cars (if you're willing to pay). It's kind of unfortunate WRC 8 has gotten such a bad wrap and beat down by DR 2.0 fanboys. Although I understand partially because it's on Epic. But it is coming to Steam in September. If your only complaints about WRC are based on this video I'd suggest actually trying it properly.

The last time I played WRC it was complete dogshite hence driving me away from it ever since. The movement on this Chase cam isn't convincing either so does the graphics and sound. Heard couple positive review lately and as this game become quite a popular esport platform now. I can only hope for the devs really can nail it and make it proper Sim in upcoming WRC 9. For now I'll skip WRC 8.

brody lockwood answer this - is it easy to make a mistake and crash or is it easy to avoide from crash or go off track? In dirt you go a bit too fast and there is no place to correct mistakes, you will crash, but watching wrc, brakes very instantly on gravel as well as gravel tyres on tarmac - thats not normal, should slide away in bushes or tree etc. I havent played wrc8 but watching vids of 7 and 8 - pritty the same.

Physics feel a little bit weird because of the camera position while turning, but make a little mistake and your car is sent flying too, braking feels similar to me in comparison to d2. I've played both and I think wrc8 feels a little bit more realistic, though it's not supposed to be a sims game.

I'm actually excited that CodeMasters got the license from WRC. I love Dirt Rally 2.0. The sound, the feel on wheel, and co-driver were awesome. I'd love to see CodeMasters use some of the stages from WRC and have a tutorial/driving school to teach basic fundamentals.

I have both I uninstalled Dirt Rally 2.0 after about 10 hours ! It really just felt like a boring chore ! Poor speed sense, Zero Road Feel and very poor FFB, An incomplete calendar and oversaturated mediocre stage design with unrealistic flat smooth roads didn't help either. No modern WRC cars etc etc -And let's not forget those "realistic NOT" barrel rolls LOL ! And Racedepartment.com called it Codemasters Masterpiece :) ( Says more about Racedepartment.com than anything ) With WRC 8 it's like "Just one more stage before I'm off to bed" With DR2 it's like "Uhh Not that boring stage again" I have just played 52 hours with WRC 8 and it keeps feeling better and better the more I play it !

I have Dirt Rally 2.0 on PC & it doesn't look like that, I'm guessing either console or slow PC. Also I'm pretty sure they are using auto transmission at least on DR2, the shift points are consistently awful. The uploader is... not fast either way.

I went to watch Rally with my dad a few years ago for the first time and the sound is pretty much the same as WRC 8 just the sound of laser beams. Dirt Rally has a bit of the 'bass'?? with the sound of the laser beam. If you guys can hear something different then you really got a good pair of ears.

Judging by this video Dirt Rally 2.0 is the one I would buy for sure, but I see people saying it lacks content and WRC 8 physics and level design are better and stuff. Too bad this video only shows chase cam and it is played on keyboard or at least seems like it. The chase cam of WRC 8 have unnecessary movement, way overdone in my taste, but I wouldn't be using it anyway so I woudn't care much about it. Sounds is a whole new story, tho. I like the way you can notice the echo from the engine in WRC 8, but the engine sound itself is terrible. Sounds way too synthetic. I hope not all cars sounds like that. Dirt Rally 2.0 looks way prettier too imo. I'll need to search more about both of them to decide which one to buy.

Wrc 8 got way better stages and they are actual real stages from the WRC season including all teams that take part in this season. Dr2.0 on the other hand looks better drives better and sounds better imo. But the stages are fairly basic in comparison to wrc 8 but if you buy the game of the year edition for like 20 euro you get a lot of content, more than wrc 8 could even offer.

​@BMO Neither. I decided to wait for WRC 9 as it looks really promising. As of what I've seen so far it will be a big jump from WRC 8 and I'm looking forward to it. Plus it is being developed by Kylotonn, same studio working on Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown which I am also looking forward. They said that they are using their experience from other titles to help developing TDU: SC and it is their most ambicious project so far, a 1:1 scale island. What I'm really interested in is its handling physics tho, so I want to support it. The new upcoming DiRT 5 looks "meh" to me from what I've seen, so not interested.

And the worst part is, I paid more for a physical copy but what's the point if I'll never use the disk and play it like normal steam game. So I basically got a disk with a steam key that auto unlocks skyrim for you...Wasted an extra $15

@Ale 81Udine, yo recuerdo que me compré él WRC 7 todo ilusionado porque hacía muy poco que me había comprado un volante, y cuando lo probé, iba muy mala, no se controlaba bien, y tenía muy malas sensaciones, me llevé un gra desilusión, es por esto, que me gustaría que este WRC 8 se pudiera conducir bien con el volante, y todavía hasta que no lo vea, no lo creeré. I felt bad for the driver, I've been playing dirt rally and dirt rally 2.0 over a couple years, and it's easy for me to commit to my actions and follow the co-driver's instructions, it's alright if you may not be the most confident in your turning abilities, you'll get better, I got top 10 on a Sweden stage on Steam, In Dirt Rally 2 under R2 and Bi11y.

Its a shame, wrc 8 looks to have some stunning stages alot better and more natural looking than dirt rally 2. But the gameplay physics just look like a shitty Need for speed game. Not to mention the sound. Sorry but dirt rally 2. Just seems much more raw, than wrc 8. If codemasters had the wrc license, Rights to stages etc rather than the pretty bland ones they have in dirt rally 2. Dirt rally could be THE perfect rally game/simulation

I've outplayed dirt rally 2.0. I enjoyed it but the ffb is weak. Just started wrc8 and it is refreshing. The car feels great with the wheel compared to wrc7. Great ffb. The tracks are way more fun than 2.0. cars are a bit stiff so a handbrake is a must in this game. I like both. I think dirt rally 2.0 looks and sounds better but wrc8 wins in the physics and content department. I look forward to both games sequels.

Dirt 2.0 looks 10years newer than wrc. IMHO on PC at ultra settings it is the best looking game I've ever played. Sunset, mist, muddy track, sunshine diffusing though the canopy of the Forest, 180kph switchback in a quattro, millimeter perfect. What a rush. Takes me back to how much i enjoyed Colin McRae rally 2.0 when it first came out. Can't believe how far these games have come.

@@nissansilviakouki not really, there's not much difference in my opinion. I have tried both. But i will say DiRT did feel a little more polished. It just needs licensed tracks, and that dynamic weather system and it'd be great. WRC 8 does have its issues though, there is way too much bloom effect in cockpit view and its impossible to see in sunny weather. It gets super washed out. DiRT didnt have that issue which was nice.

Dirt Rally 2.0 is great if you want to pay more for each track from the first game than the first game costs. Also: cars from the first game. Also: Dirt Rally 2.0 is ideal for players who don't want to be able to play ANY daily challenge because they contain paid DLC content. It's also great for people who don't want to play Pikes Peak because it's in the first game, not this one. THIS IS A FULL PRICE GAME.

These two games are miles apart. If you think these two games are alike, you are right. They are both rally racing games. But there stops the comparison. The official wrc game has 7, I repeat 7 releases before this, number 8. And they were all pretty stupid and boring. And you think now, suddenly they got it? Save your money and use it to buy a better steering wheel, or rig, or maybe take the lady out for a steak? What I mean is do not compare the wrc series with dirt and dirt 2. Having a rally car and competing at breakneck speeds through a WRC course are two different things though... anyone who plays sims on constantly on KZbin tells it like it is. DR2 is the more arcade car feel. It’s like people who think forza is better than GT Sport... arcade games will grab more attention for being easy with pretty graphics but the tracks in DR2 are garbage. I’ve gone over more bumps in parking lots. And the transmission whine being heard from chase cam is just overcooked audio. WRC shines on cockpit cam

Only the Sound is much better at Dirt,the Physics we will see it at Release. But there are so many Things that get me angry when i think on DR2. Sound Bug, no FFB , no Career + World Record Times from AI. Loveless Stages that repeats all the Time,no real Daytimes and real Wheater. How Dirt Rally 2 with all that Bugs and Bullshit get that good Reviews will always be a Riddle to me. Dirt Rally 1 is World Class and 2 has way better Physics,but Everything else they made buggy Bullshit that doesnt deserve such Good Reviews.

wrc just needs a better co driver and better physics. In WRC 7 the car does not slide, it's very hard to make a donut or hairpin

You might want to tweak your settings or something because I can get the car to slide no problem. In wrc 7 you have to drive like you would in real life during a rally stage. To get a good slide for a hairpin hit the throttle a little bit to shift the weight to the rear then quickly apply front brake to shift weight forward, engage turn then hit handbrake, itll slide right around no problem as long as you dont have your settings set on easy which extremely limits the cars physics. In dirt you can just smash handbrake to slide usually but in wrc you have to do it realistically and utilize vehicle weight transfers to slide just like rally drivers do in real life. You also have to do neutral braking which is same amount of brake pressure on front and rear which keeps weight centered for long turns etc

For some reason I hate DR2’s graphics in more open areas without trees and adore them in WRC 8, but I hate WRC’s graphics when there is a bunch of trees (besides Australia, that area looks good actually) and think driving through tree-covered areas looks better more often in DR2.

I paid about $25 and got all the DLC including base Dirt Rally 2 game. While WRC is good, I still think their yearly releases kill it for player bases just because it is hard to justify buying dlc later on for a game that will be replaced with another release.
