Thierry lost so much time on the Virtual Chicane. at 3:05 Obviously tried to stop it before the small drop, but was on top still going 100kph. You can see with naked eye how he keeps on sliding for another 2seconds trying to drop those last 40kph. It is like 0.5G of braking force, while on the first braking part he gets triple that, about 1.5G, from what I see.

Ironically, I hoped yesterday that a full onboard of Ouninpohja would come in either Neuville's or Fourmaux's inside cam view, given both have this same view for this rally that allows for full-viewing of selected gear. Laukaa, Saarikas, & Sahloinen-Moksi (some time afterwards), would also be good, & Västilä is also enjoyable, but Ouninpohja as a minimum is okay. One can try & calculate or imagine how much faster the times & average speeds with these current-generation cars would be without the slowing-down methods, both virtual & physical. I reckon at least 10 km/h higher average & or 10-20 seconds faster times. Unfortunately, these things are unavoidable for such fast-paced special stages as long as the cars aren't getting any slower. I like how the warning method on the middle display works, with a yellow warning text coming once past the small-ish pre-warning yellow signs at 3:02 & once within the marked zone, a round warning sign with white-background text above arrives & stays until the green. The latter physical slowing-down method location on the fastest section is coincidently where the 2005-06 Ouninpohja East variation begins.

Here the camera conveys the feeling of speed better, and 11 seconds to 14.5 minutes is a small difference. I watched the rally all day today and wanted to see exactly Neuville.
@tekuusi4 ай бұрын
@@daddyandy9591 To be fair, I don't mind seeing Neuville onboard. Frankly, the more onboards the better. However I do think the fastest time should always take priority no matter who makes it or where. Thierry did a great stage but it was not the fastest and even if he was slower by 0.1 sec, still the fastest time should take priority. On the F1 comparison again; I'm sure the entire top 10 will be hard to differentiate with sight alone. Also arguably there are drivers driving worse cars, sometimes performing better than the people in top cars, yet it's always the top time which is highlighted first.
@daddyandy95914 ай бұрын
@@tekuusi , I agree with you, I myself would like to see Rovanpera's onboard тоо.
@zwjna4 ай бұрын
@@daddyandy9591 No, the dashcam conveys the feeling of speed way better. This stage is of extremely high speed and it barely looks like it on this video. This camera on Tänak's car at Poland was showing the speed much better. On the other hand, Neuville is clearly hesitating in many places here, and even shaving off 0.1s takes some cornering techniques that are visually clearly more enjoyable to watch - basically way more sideways and aggressive, as the driver pushes the car to the very last moment and keeps that extra little bit of momentum with the clearly bigger sideways angle. It's 0.1s + 0.1s + 0.1s + 0.1s, we are already quite a few corners in and that accounts for just 0.4s, but we have already gained a lot in spectacle.

What's the problem with that ? Thierry Neuville is the championship leader and he finished second of this rally. Plus this is definitely not the rally where he feels the more comfortable. Just an educated guess, the red means hybrid system is regeneraring, blue means it's available to use, and amount of white on top tells how much hybrid boost is left. 5-speed mechanical gearbox has been used at least since Rally1 cars era began in 2022. Rally2 cars have 5-speed transmission as well.
