Wreck found by reporter may be last American slave ship, archaeologists say

A previously unexplored 19th century shipwreck discovered in the Mobile-Tensaw Delta, which archaeologists said might be the Clotilda, has been ruled out as the ill-fated ship after further examination this week. In the end, this wreck was simply too big, with a significant portion hidden beneath mud and deep water.
What's left of the ship lies partially buried in mud alongside an island in the lower Mobile-Tensaw Delta, a few miles north of the city of Mobile. The hull is tipped to the port side, which appears almost completely buried in mud. The entire length of the starboard side, however, is almost fully exposed. The wreck, which is normally underwater, was exposed during extreme low tides brought on by the same weather system that brought the "Bomb Cyclone" to the Eastern Seaboard. Low tide around Mobile was about two and a half feet below normal thanks to north winds that blew for days.

Its last voyage was after it left Dahomey, West Africa now called Benin with a cargo of Africans including Cudjoe Lewis and landed in a small river not far from Mobile where the Africans were kept hidden because authorities were searching for them and those 2 men that made the bet wanted to avoid prosecution and they did. sad and shameful history.

It would be good to see them rebuild Africa-Town's historical Center (in Mobile) and place it there near Kazoola "CudJoe" himself. It would only be right to get with the community place it there, if it's really Cotilde. It's sad how they just industrialized parts of that area to erase the history. This is definitely proof that the ancestors are still present.

There is so much wrong with your statement. The Olmecs weren’t the oldest civilization by any means. The Olmec civilization dates from 1600 BC and disappeared around 400 BC. There are plenty of civilizations that were around before that. China and Egypt, for example, have histories far older than that. Both were already advanced civilizations when the Olmecs first appeared. Egypt was divided between the Pharaohs of the Fifteenth and Sixteenth Dynasties in what is know as the Second Intermediate Period, and 1600 BC marked the beginning of the Shang Dynasty in China under King Tang of Shang, who is said to have overthrown King Jie of Xia (the title of Emperor wasn’t used until the Qin Dynasty). And the Olmecs were definitely not black. They were Native American. The Olmecs had no contact with Africa, and they were long gone before the first Africans were brought to the New World.
