I think a lot of people (me included) assumed this whole time that this was Armands penthouse, and that they were living off of Armands wealth. It wasn't until the sixth episode when Louis was talking about the capitalistic ventures he wanted to try that i started to think that their wealth may actually be Louis. He was the one who wanted to buy and sell art, invest in real estate, and other underappreciated assests. Edit. As i was typing it, they briefly discussed this probability.

Here's the thing. Armand is weak. He was a hireibl3 coven leader. He was afraid to turn vampires of his own. And when Lestat found him, he was living underground with his coven and Lestat lifted him up in greatness at the Theater de Vampire that Lestat created and vampires that to the run down theater Armand was running. Remember Lestat saying "I liked the old place better" Everything that Armand ever attained was because of Lestat and Louis.

My favorite performance is definitely Jacob's. He gave everything from melancholy to insanity. For my favorite character this season, Armand rose to my number 1. I haven't read the books but I've been informed what a gremlin he was, so I kinda anticipated whatever he was gonna do in the show. Assad's performance was a big part of my fascination for Armand. I still recite his lines from episode 5 to this day.

The Ben Daniels love is so real. Recently saw a Q&A with Rolin Jones, Mark Johnson and Assad where Rolin is talking about how they did a take where Ben improvises/had previously written some Santiago lines himself in the scene where Santiago catches Claudia writing in her journal and they used some of those in the episode. Plus the whole thing about Rolin asking Ben if it would be okay to make Santiago straight and him reading the script and coming to the conclusion that it would not make sense 😭 Honestly, an insane cast. Everyone is incredible. Also hope you’re caught up on the whole Eric/Assad/Luke’s insane instagram behavior from yesterday too.

i was absolutely DYING at the prospect of armand and daniel in the show and was worried we weren’t gonna get it but the creator rolin jones said that “we dont need to worry about the devil's minion and that we def will be seeing something totally screwed up happening between those two” so i am so excited this will also be like a reverse devil’s minion as in the books its young daniel who is turned and armand is chasing him but now it’s older daniel as the vampire and he is chasing armand because he has been abandoned by him and has all this pent up ‘anger’ and the need for answers, oh it’s going to be delicious assad also said in an interview that “he was more than willing to go down the devil’s minion route with either eric or luke or both and it might be a nice parallel” - if we get flashbacks to their relationship in the past together and then to the current timeline i will simply cease to exist, I CANT WAIT!!!!!

Yes! Also Eric has said he's willing to get naked for the show. It's great to see actors actually wanting to do a ship so badly. I just hope AMC submitted Jacob and Assad next year for best leading actor and best supporting actor for emmy. They both hard carrying this season esp the way Jacob went from depressed, sad to manic, mad then back to grief Louis, in the book Louis is such a plain character, many readers find him boring, but the tv show Louis has such a big nuance and it was proven by Jacob's range of acting, Jacob's acting when Louis wrote coven members name on ghe floor was scary, like Louis had so many layers in his character, I think no actors can pull this Louis other than Jacob Anderson. I hope he gets all the awards he deserves

Louis is a former pimp. Armand is a former victim of sexual slavery as a child. I don't think Louis gave Daniel the mantra; I think Armand did when he edited Daniel's memories. I think Armand has abandonment issues more than just about anything else. He chooses the coven because he doesn't believe Louis won't ultimately abandon him (and is he wrong?).

Finally, the tractor salesman comes back. After a thousand debates in comment sections. Was this a mistake? Does it mean something? Is it letting us know Louis's memory is unreliable? Can a maker talk directly to a fledgling like that? And so on.

To be honest, I really think that was just a mistake by the writers that they finally addressed and wrapped up in the "unreliable narrator" theme. I just don't see them intentionally putting that in season one just to foreshadow that they would be getting into how Louis is an unreliable narrator. I may be wrong though.

He knew that people may notice it, and that they may think it was shitty writing, but he wanted to set up the second season. He said the they made it a point to add the scene where Lestat mind controlled the soldiers out of the house so they could establish Lestat as powerful enough to rig the sentence at the trial. So, it was all intentional.

Stereotypes are unwarranted considering what the viewer has always known about Louis’s character from the first season and into season two: he was an entrepreneur as a human and as a vampire who knows how much he has accumulated over the last decades.

There has been far too man hot young looking but actually ancient vampires falling in love with 16 year old girls/boys. I like the idea of the ancient vampire falling in love with someone older and wiser and yeah still a bit of a brat because of having a "interesting" life already and not having that life stolen from them Daniel is kinda then anti-Claudia. Someone who has already had their human life and not had it stolen from them,

Absolutely do a video for the movie! We _must_ see Alex’s reaction to _so much_ in it! I guess I can’t pick a single favorite. 5-8. Like San Fran. Gotta give Claudia something, but I can’t just pick the trial, so also revealing herself to Madeleine and being happy with her, however brief it was. And there’s so much for Louis, Lestat, Armand, and Daniel. When I fully saw Daniel’s new attire I was like “Daniel. Wtf are you doing? 😂” And then of course he’s revealed to be a vampire. Oh you don’t care about future book spoilers?! Bet! So that Talamasca agent, Raglan James, is the titular Body Thief of book 4, (last of the VampChron I read). He has psychic powers, is ex Talamasca by that point, and he tricks Lestat into switching bodies with him “for a day.” Really he wants to remain a vampire and he left Lestat with a body near death. Lestat recovers, indulges in being human again, becomes romanticaly involved with a nun that he tells everything to. He does get his body back, and he tries to reconnect with the nun. She claimed to believe his story, but she is very in denial and freaked out when he returns in his true body, so that relationship dies. And I guess she never comes back; she doesn’t even have a page on the Vampire Chronicles fandom site. Or she’s been neglected on that site.

Here's why you can forgive Armand: we already knew he chose the coven over Louis; directing the play is just part of the betrayal we already knew about. That's the betrayal he refers to as the only time he failed Louis and he'll never be forgiven for. He had good reason to choose the coven, though: Louis had been nothing but dismissive of his concerns about turning Madeleine, and he's obviously not over Lestat. So Armand chooses the coven and lies to Louis and turns him and Claudia and Madeleine over to the coven. We already knew that. Then once Lestat saves Louis, Armand has to hear him screaming in the walls and has a change of heart. So he pulls Louis out of the wall, gives him blood, and leaves him to escape. He doesn't beg Louis to take him back. Rescueing Louis puts Armand and the coven at risk, but Armand does it for no personal gain. Armand doesn't lie about his involvement in the trial until AFTER he freed Louis. Louis is crazy, plotting against the coven and HE asks Armand, "Did you save me at the trial?" There's a loooooong pause before Armand lies and says yes. He doesnt elaborate on that lie until after Louis burned down his home and killed everyone he knows. So really the only things revealed in the finale, that Armand took credit for saving Louis at the trial and was more involved in the play than he said, were done under duress and for reasonable motives. And then Louis uses him as a prop to hurt Lestat, and promises to stay with Armand for LIFE without talking to Armand, even though he doesn't love Armand. And Armand goes along with it, because he hates himself and also because Louis literally just killed his whole family!

I think part of Louis’ decision to subliminally ‘forever inspire’ Daniel was selfishness, in that he was saving Daniel for later down the road. Seeing the lifestyle that he was taking part in was certainly a track for an early grave and Louis had plans for him. I feel Armand would have still saved Louie and somehow would have pulled him out of the death sentence. Armand wanted Louie to himself without Claudia and satisfy the coven. He spent 70 years with Louie, protecting and saving him and even giving him his blood which made Louie powerful having both Lestat and Armand. That’s why he can hold his own against other vampires and is not afraid of them. Armand wanted to keep the lie but he couldn’t. They are all one dysfunctional family. I can’t reveal more. But enjoy it. Listen to the audiobooks or read the books. They are great.

i have become OBSSESSED with the vampire chronicles because of the series and starting in october 2022, i'm 7 books in already and OH BOY this series is amazing, better than the source material BECAUSE all the people involved love the books and are actively changing things that didn't quite work in the books or couldve be done better if anne rice wasn't so all over the place. the movie is really good JUST because of cruise's lestat and dunst's claudia. pitt's louis is TERRIBLY BAD, but also louis kinda sucks in the first book too lmao i think you guys should watch the movie but DO NOT watch the queen of the damned one... that's the worst movie i have watched and i hate it with all i have. also kind of a spoiler... i'm actually glad the show is hinting at armand hating on his maker (marius) because he is the WORST being to ever exist, i feel bad for whoever gets casted as him.

It was in the books? Queen of the damned? An entire chapter of them together called Devil’s Minion? It is not just a ship. It is cannon in the Anne Rice world, and both the actors and writers have said that this is a slow burn they are going to continue to explore. So it will be show cannon too, in some capacity.

⁠@@rHamUK​​⁠​⁠(Just to clarify, I enjoy all of the relationships on the show, and I am not even that particular to this one over any others, but nonetheless…) Can you link me an interview where they say it is not happening? Everything I have seen, points to the contrary. I know it will not be the exact same, that they have stated. I am not and never was expecting a one to one adaptation, or anything close. The show goes its own way. But time and time again Rolin Jones has assured us from even the season one comic con panel something along the lines of “if [daniel and armand] is an important relationship to you, not to worry”. So something interesting will be happening, regardless of how “romantic” it is, and I would still call that Devil’s Minion. Though I do think there will be a romantic or at least psychosexual aspect to it, just knowing how the show is and the tension that has been built between these characters on screen. But that is just my read. And if it doesn’t happen that way? No big deal. To me, DM is more than just the “ship.” It is the entire freaky and messed up situation between these guys. To further this point, also consider this segment (lightly paraphrased) from Rolin in the Variety cast interview at comic con this week around the four minute mark: “We have been thinking about it for a while, and we will be progressing it. While the main focus at the moment is gonna be TVL, the DM storyline will not drop, there will be story points leading towards Devil’s Minion. Every Daniel and Armand so far has been part of Devil’s minion. Everyone is asking for this one concentrated chapter, while we will be giving them seasons and seasons and seasons of Devil’s minion. It coming. It’s happening, don’t worry about it. It’s all good.” As the showrunners have stated, if the tv show ever “cuts” or changes things from the book, they always aim to put in a satisfying equivalent. And for most fans (me included) the Devil’s Minion has already started to be portrayed in season 2! Think about all that torture and drama in the 70s, and just the sheer fact that Armand did turn Daniel. That IS Devil’s minion in a new coat of paint. Daniel’s turning by Armand was left as a big shocker and cliffhanger at the end of the season, so surely the writers aren’t intending on dropping that. There will be more. These characters are not going to disappear in season 3. And there will (hopefully) be many more seasons to explore all kinds of character dynamics. And also, the actors aren’t uncomfortable? In fact the actors in many interviews bringing up how excited they are to portray this dynamic. Eric is surely not uncomfortable with this kind of thing, take for example the article posted by Vulture “Eric Bogosian Would Get Naked for Interview With the Vampire.” Eric is not afraid! They seem very excited, not uncomfortable. Also, check out the Den of Geek interview that was just posted today, where Assad teases and jokes regarding Daniel/Armand and his turning about it getting “hotter and steamier” (around the three minute mark). And what about the interview where Assad revealed that some of his first interactions with Eric Bogosian was telling him how their characters get together in the books? I can provide many more examples and quotes from the cast and showrunners. So if you are a fan of this dynamic and are worried it won’t be portrayed, be reassured! It will be shown in some new or surprising ways, as everything is on this show. And if you don’t care for it, be assured that anything that happens between them will only be a part of the bigger story, which will soon revolve to focus more closely to Lestat and his exploits.

I just don’t like how the show failed Loumand. The tv show seems like reducing the love Loumand had in the book. They did love each other in the book. The show just shut down any possibility for Louis and Armand getting back together while in the book, after long journey, Louis left Lestat and went back to Armand on Trinity Gate and keep living there with him until Lestat became a prince and asked Louis to be his consort and back with him in last book, Blood Communion. Seems like the tv show doesn’t want Louis to have a romantic feeling with other person except Lestat eventough in the book, Lestat fell in love with so many new characters and I think the show will adapt that too, if Lestat could have great romantic loves beside Louis, why Louis only could love Lestat? Let Louis fell in love with others too, he had other love besides Lestat in the book, there are Armand & Merrick but in the show, seems like Louis never love Armand? Which is very disappointing, we need more Loumand so the Trinity Gate plot would be made on screen too

I feel like the producers, directors even the actors don’t like loumand, they used loumand as a stepping stone for loustat and devil’s minion😭 as loumand shipper i feel like being attacked everytime jacob gave opinions on loumand, assad is more into devil’s minion while jacob is loustat warrior, then who would be the captain for loumand it’s sad to be the minority in this fandom 😢

I love Loumand, but they have always been a failmarriage. Yes there is love/attraction there, but as it was in the book and the show, irreconcilable differences were created in large part to Armand’s own actions. In the books it seemed like Louis and Armand were more infatuated with the ideas of each other than anything else, and I think the show actually allowed the relationship time to be that but to also be more than that. Louis and Armand were together for like 60 years in the book following Paris, and that is described in like 5 pages. Everything after Paris was disillusionment. I don’t think they failed Loumand at all. I don’t like viewing this show as a ship war. They made the relationship so intriguing and interesting and complex and layered. We are watching the anatomy of a fall. I don’t think that is a fail.
