​@@anneelk9066 i had to make sure that scene actually happened because i have erased it from my memory 😭💔 its such a gorgeous scene of love-testament, grief & pain we dont see too often in movies or shows anymore. I think its true that while its only Dreamstat talking/reading the letter, its still Lestat behind it, behind the dream too, aching for Louis' return just like the former did when Claudia left. So to me his letter will always be a true side of Lestat behind the pain and rubble, he has loved Louis just like the 1st day and what he said at the altar.

Wow listening to Sam made me realise that the scene where Louis come to see Lastat in New Orleans in the s2 finale is the first time we have ever seen/met the REAL Lestat. Not a memory, not a dream or a recollection. The real Lestat.

Yeah, Anne Rice was always fairly adamant that Lestat didn't have anything to do with it-but I distinctly recall coming away from the books with this distinct impression like he had and being very surprised to learn that she was so adamant he really hadn't, something about the way that Lestat was described[ watching Louis from a distance before he'd revealed himself so when Louis had no of know who or what was watching or some-such] and the way that what happened to Paul was described both using similar phrasing or something(it's been years though, I should reread and see if my impression might be different now or not). The TV series, tho, I think doesn't really give that same impression at all though; so they did a good job with that. I don't think, if I'd only watched the tv series(and if Louis himself hadn't asked Lestat if Lestat had had anything to do with it), that I would have ever thought to wonder if Lestat possibly had. But then again, maybe I would have, without the book context also making vampire powers and limitations a little clearer to me to rule certain things out or not or whatever. I dunno.😁 🤔🤷🤷‍♀️🤷🏻‍♂️ It's difficult sometimes to parse out how much of what I'm getting from this is because I've also read the books, or how much is just the tv series all on its own, because I have read the books. 😂 (Not saying that's a bad thing at all though, just saying sometimes I wonder what it's like to watch it and have this be your first introduction to the Vampire Chronicles without knowing anything else; I just wonder how similar or how dissimilar the experience would be[, but of course I'll never really know personally, can only speculate]. Lol Maybe I just think too much, or something!😅😁😊)

I don't remember, exactly how expressly did Louis wonder about it in the books? I thought it was more something that readers wondered about and frequently asked Anne about rather than something that Louis had actually wondered about in the books. For some reason, I didn't think Louis ever actually asked Lestat about it in the books? (I'm not sure how Anne Rice could say it had never occurred to her that people would ever think that Lestat might've actually done this if it was something she'd ever actually had Louis overtly wonder or be paranoid about in the canon text.😅) I thought Louis only ever actually asked Lestat about it in the tv series? (Likely just to preemptively put to rest one of the most freguently asked questions from the books, just in case viewers ever reached the same speculations while watching as readers did while reading.) But admittedly, it has been a while, and I am overdue for a reread; so maybe I'm misremembering certain details.

i love that sam emphasises that we havent actually seen lestat yet so frequently. or at least, that what we have seen of lestat is louis or armands memory/perception of him. the closest i feel like we've come to seeing the actual lestat is the letter he leaves louis because its his own writing. even though louis has dreamstat narrate it, its still lestats own words. now do i think lestat is 100% as soft and loving as the letter paints him out to be - no. he, along with so many of the other characters on the show are wonderfully grey and layered. i guess it just gets me hopeful and excited to hopefully see things from his perspective one day 🤞

I feel like the first time we get to see actual Lestat is the end of season two finale, when Louis goes back to New Orleans during the hurricane 😢😮 Every other version of him, aside from the letter, is just recounts/memories of various people's perceptions of Lestat. Which is colored by their emotions. Hopefully season 3 will showcase Lestat's pov

okay so, about the birds. I think they represent insanity in the series, so Paul has birds who tell him things, when Louis hallucinates he hallucinates birds, AND. ARMANDS belief that Claudia is going to go insane and lose her grip over time, represented by him putting her *into* the "baby bird" role

I didn't think I would find another great show to watch after TWD but, IWA Vampire, took the CAKE this show is great keep me on the edge of my couch.... Lestat, is great he will always come back to Louie, an Louie will go to him . This show is so great Claudia was a brat in the beginning. I love this show can't wait for more. I know that Lestat loves him and they are soulmates. But Lestat does treat him like this fragile bird that he wants to cage. Armand also did the same when he was with him.😅

Even on the show it appears more reddish blonde. That's one of the differences between the show Lestat and book Lestat. Also, book Lestat was younger, more like early twenties. Sam is more early thirties Lestat. To me, none of that matters. I couldn't think of anyone else playing Lestat. Same with Assad Zaman playing Armand.
