Kingsland was basically under water last fall. The bridge washed out. That shiz was crazy. My guess is the boats smashed in to the boathouse roofs during the hi water we endured last fall in central tx.

Rebuilder Guy the towers are damaged from being on covered lifts on the lake, the water rose over 30ft in just a few hours.
@rifflenut14845 жыл бұрын
they should have had them towers folded down 😎
@STRONGIN55 жыл бұрын
The cause of all the crushed windshields and towers is from a abnormal rise in lake level when the boats are stored in their boat houses. As the water lever rises beyond normal levels, the boats float above their slings and get pushed into the roof of their boat houses crushing windshields and towers. I’ve seen it first hand!

The Tabs on the stern are called trim tabs. They help the hull to ride in the correct position in the water. They do not have anything to do with surfing .

I’d buy one with crushed towers, get thing running have a sweet boat then save up and put new things on over time
@Profabdesigns5 жыл бұрын
I know your not really a boat guy, but those “Flaps” are called ‘trim tabs’ and they do exactly what they are called. they trim or adjust the level or lean angle. They can also drag the stern or back of the boat in order to create the desired wave shape.

@sdmc2224 жыл бұрын
Most boats don't do well under water. They're supposed to stay on the surface. "Flooded boats" usually means they sank, many damaged in hurricanes, etc. These are mostly from texas n Florida. Motors are usually ruined when they go to the bottom. Totalled by insurance.
@sdmc2224 жыл бұрын
@@marty8155 ya OK genius, how often do hurricanes hit the UK? Nevermind u pompous asswipe, i know, almost never, last one was 1987, i was there actually. Ever been to a coastal city after a hurricane? Or a marina after a hurricane or even a tropical storm? No, or you wouldn't be spewing nonsense on KZbin about how Americans don't fix stuff, on a video about an American fixing stuff. Oh the irony lol. However I do agree that overall waste, especially food waste, is a serious issue. And the US now has an administration that is cutting funds for recycling, clean air & water, etc. Also cutting education. All to pay for tax cuts for the super rich. But most Americans dont support.

marty ansell it’s about insurance. Once a boat like these has it’s engine flooded, it is totaled.
@thediplomasta58913 жыл бұрын
If the engine was NOT running when swamped, it will be fine, with an oil change of course. But only if it was not under water for a long time. Although I have seen an outboard that was found on the bottom, and this guy drained it, gave it some gas, cleaned the carb out, and it fired right up! He reckoned it had been there for at least a decade. So, anything is possible. The reason these boats were scrapped, is because they were luxury boats. You'll notice the abscense of any jon boats. Those are all fine, after being sunk. It's all the accessories, on the lux boats, that really get damaged.

Nope, boats were submerged and many will upend in the process. The tides naturally drag these things to the shallows and shorelines. This is where boats start to come apart.

Guys, I buy and rebuild boats for a living and I warn anyone trying to buy these boats, IT'S EXPENSIVE and very, very time consuming. When you are done, you still have to tell prospective buyer that it was a totaled boat (in most states) and I promise you, the second you do that the value / price just dropped by a third or more. Bluntly, a buyer has a choice, your supposedly rebuilt boat, or one that didn't have to be rebuilt. Guess which one they buy unless you give them an amazing incentive / price. Not saying you can't make a buck at it, I do but then I have a full shop and three full time Marine specialists as well as a lot of great connections for parts. If it's for your own personal use AND you have the expertise, give it a go but beware, the most common boat you will see in adds or on Craigslist are "Project boats" that people start to work on and give up, I buy them all the time at nearly criminal prices.
@joefish635 жыл бұрын
Good guy....I would like to be able to chat with you in private about a boat issue I have. How can I contact you outside of KZbin?
@chadjohnson59175 жыл бұрын
You're 100% correct. I flip boat trailers for something to do and make some side money for tournament fishing. I don't care much about the time issue because it's something to keep me busy. But the cost of any project most be taken into account. If you have access to a boat junkyard and cool with the owner, then you're set. If you have to buy retail, you're screwed. But to me, the most important issue is....has the boat/trailer been in salt water? That's huge. You can make a small profit flipping boats and stuff but you really need to know what you're doing. For example, how many people know how to properly rewire a boat and with the right marine guage wiring. This is not to throw shade on this man's channel. But you need a level of expertise, helping friends, and access to parts below cost to make it work.

boat people blow my mind theyll pay a mechanic with a 6 month certification stupid money for primarily changing oil and pulling drain plugs and swapping starters without blinking an eye....but when the Upholsterer with 20 plus years of actual craftmanship experience tells them $5000 for a new hand crafted interior they give you that omg thats way too much look like your trying to rip them off...

@misterb14925 жыл бұрын
storm or flood damage, I've bought many of these and you can get a real buy if you can do the repairs yourself. Be very careful of engine damage, frozen blocks and salt water are the main reason engine damage will be listed. Never bid blind, always go look first, as the pictures often don't show the real damage... been there, done that
