It’s a “lightweight” bumper. 11 guage steel Garbage. If you want a steel bumper for off-roading and protection not just looks you need 3/16 or 1/4. This bumper weighs 85 pounds compared to the 125 of something like a c4 hybrid

FYI, I only had the Taco about 5 months and bought it used as it is the the prior pictures. I assumed it was aluminum since it folded so easily. I hit that minivan on my way to work around 7 am. As far as location that's exactly were our vehicles ended up. The minivan had right turn signal on when I proceeded to go around them on the left, then they decided to turn left in front of me.

​@raygrenier1618 a lot of things had to have worked out just right for the van like damage getting focused directly on a support and nearly all damage to the taco would have to be caused by the bumper being pushed inward, but I suppose its possible. I hit a deer at 60 in my 2023, no bumper installed, front end was toast to tune of 16k insurance bill. I could see how the plastic front ends on these trucks is not durable in the slightest. Shocking if true that the bumper is that much of a multiplier. Still bet its steel, aluminum would have cracked with all those bends id bet.

I hit my 89 bronco with my 87 Comanche a few years back. Comanches bumper was totally bent, grill smashed, driver side panel wedged wack into the door. Very much damaged. My broncos bumper was a little bent, just on one side. Took me 5 mins to bend it back with a ratchet strap and a mower.

Just finished my Coastal Off-road bumper and I promise you this wouldn't have happened, since it has several strength/crossmembers in that area. Hole bumper is 3/16 steel, van would have been toast! I can highly recommend Coastal Offroad!!!

It's a $2k bumper from fab fours. Most bumpers are form over function nowadays anyway. The "cheap" bumpers tend to hold up way better than the over priced stuff.

What driver all you guys think received a worst impact ? The van or the taco driver . At the end of the day that’s all that matters . They make thousands of tacos bumpers and all that . But we are all one of a kind . That weak bumper folding maybe saved that taco driver from long term medical issues. The van driver in the other hand may end up with some bad lower back and neck issues

I just went for a $1k steelcraft bumper for mine held up to 2 accidents on the rear. The other guys car was totaled and mine was had some dents but nothing major. Quality over Quantity.

To be fair, if it was a steel bumper, the frame may have been bent, the airbags would have deployed same, including other damage... probably would have been totaled anyway. U hit an older minivan made partially of steel. The one of many things I've learned modding my Tacoma is there is very little metal and a lot of plastic and the plastic is held together by a million piece of crap plastic tabs. I did choose to use steel on everything that was modded out. I do miss my 78 Ford F250 single cab 4x4 manual...with a 461...I think the only plastic was the button for the glove compartment. She was a tank. Literally, compare to these new vehicles. That bumper u had....ugh! Sorry...
