I would suggest, well recommend, that the best way fix the electrical problems is to remove every existing wire and start over. Loved the way that Deutz hung in there.

When I was a seasonal firefighter for cal fire back in the day.. we would go out of county on fire assignments.. and some times we would have a break down.. luckily we had a mechanical firefighter in our convoy.. and y’all going on your “road trips” reminds me of how we would laugh and MacGyver stuff to get us on the road!! The farm that I worked at had a 3 cylinder air cooled 60HP Deutz-Allis 4WD cab tractor that weighed 8500 lbs. The engine was terrific, and is famous for longevity. The same engine on a irrigation pump has run 35,000 hours here in Maine. Loved the tractor, except for the cabin heater, which was a mini-oil furnace fired by a spark plug, and was always breaking down in the winter...

I really envy you guys, another extraordinary adventure. I served as a conscript in the South African military, 1976- 85 general vehicle fitter, Technical Services Corp, during deployment in the border war we had many adventures doing recovery, repair ect. In the bush, great fun.

I enjoyed that. I am school bus mechanic since 1978. never worked on one that old. But have had the air line break off at compressor had to (borrow) a piece of barbed wire off a old fence to tie it in place to get back to shop. Now we have radios and cell phones in the old days the mechanic was on your own unless you walked to a house and ask to use a land line phone.

The governor on the compressor needs new o-rings, thats why it's hard to get air to build until it reaches around 60psi

Since it was blowing the line I think it needs more than just O rings since the governor regulates the air pressure.

I have that same hitch on a trailer that my dad and I cobbled together "temporarily" from the back end of an old Chevy truck some 26 years ago. I thought I had the only one in existence. I bet when you were kids you never dreamed you could have so much fun in a school bus!!

This bus fiasco reminds me of my Dad's 48 crown bus, with a sideways 6 cylinder gasoline engine in it. My Dad Mom and Brother with his family took off from Moorpark, California, to Colorado headed to Pikes Peak towing a Ford F250 4x4 They Blew tires the entire way there. on the way back. They lost third gear in Calico out there in the desert, heading to Vegas I thought I was out of the woods, my Dad. and brother woke me up early. We headed out and put third gear in The Crown bus, pulling the transmission in a 110° heat. Never a dull moment with that 48 Crown bus. I was supposed to go on that trip, but my Dad didn't put new tires on, so I stayed home with my wife. 😅😅😅😅

What are fun ride that was! Back in the 90s in the middle of a cold winter I worked a new construction power plant job we had several Deutz powered JLG manlifts. At -20° below zero when they fired up they ran wide open for at least the first 10 minutes. I expected to hear a rod or some other serious issue but nothing ever developed. All they ever did was oil changes. Remarkable units the Deutz diesel.... Glad y'all had so much fun. Thanks fir sharing.

I was taking a friend for his first ride on the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway and just as you start up from the bottom there are old cables laying on the ground. There was a little lady holding on to the railing for dear life so I said to my friend "See those cables? That's from when they snapped and killed all those people". The lady gave me a half hearted smile and said "You just had to say that didn't you?".

As you were pulling up to Rick & Pams, saw that ham radio antenna on the roof/tower & thought this is gonna be an adventure (not sure why, lol!).
