Barry is a dear friend of mine, that I have known for years. I'm a drummer, and I was blessed when I got to back him at a Christian concert that had a number of groups that were playing. When I first heard "Eve Of Destruction" back in the 60's I loved it, but never thought in a million years that Barry & I would become good friends later on in life!

I grew up hearing Eve of Destruction. 60 seconds ago, on 12/4/21 I heard Eve 2012 for the first time. I never knew this existed. It’s just as incredible as the original and Barry’s voice will knock you over TWICE. Older artists always lose the strength in their voice, but not him. My kingdom to hear it again for the first time.

Love the song, heard it played over Armed Forces Radio while aboard a Vietnam-bound troopship in mid-October, 1965 as we approached the island of Guam. That said, lowering the voting age to 18 is why we are in trouble. The 18-year-old mind is not developed enough or experienced enough to make sound voting decisions. I think it is what it is due to its' simplicity. A good simple song is very hard to write. I was born 1981, but this timeless MASTERPIECE hits me totally. I woke up in the middle of the night when I was seven and we were living in a hippie village in Northern California. My mom had met Barry at the local saloon and brought him, and some bandmates home. With the 'Conflict' in Vietnam killing and wounding so many young Americans, 'Eve of Destruction' HAD to be played and listened to. My small town of less than 10,000 people suffered it's first death from the Vietnam War in 1965, the year this song was released. Things went downhill from there...

I met Barry Mcguire in the early 1970’s in London. I was one of the original members of Christian Rock band Liberation Suite in Texas. We had moved to Belfast Northern Ireland from Texas during one of the worst times of sectarian violence. God protected us and our families from violence. God opened doors for us to play and give our testimonies. We lived in London and later outside the city. We were allowed to play in schools and in city squares around northern Ireland. As word spread we were allowed to play in schools and give our testimonies of how Jesus had changed our lives. We later moved from Belfast to the suburbs of London in a very posh neighborhood where we were given a large house to live in and use as our headquarters while traveling to many schools, colleges and ultimately to the Royal Albert Hall in London. We also recorded our first album in a studio in the London suburb of Claygate. We also were able to play and give our testimonies in schools and concerts. Ultimately Word Records approached us about recording our first album. As interest increased we were asked by Word Records to play at The Royal Albert Hall in London with Barry McGuire. We also played in London for free open air venues and schools and universities.

I had the good fortune of seeing him perform with Terry Talbot in Fresno back in 2014 at the Tower Theatre. Great show.
