This is a longer video than usual, exploring capturing one small bird in my journal's pages. I hope you enjoy it!

These little Carolina Wrens have become one of my new favourites! We have a pair that has built several nests in our yard(You may know that they do this to throw off predators and help conceal the real nest). I love watching these guys and the way their are tails are so perky and happy looking- such an animated little bird! :) I really enjoyed watching this, Cathy! You really capture the spirit/expression of the animals and birds you come across. I've only sketched these guys and this video has me thinking I really need to get around to finally painting them! Take care!

Fabulous....as usual! These perky birds have so much personality and you have rendered a lovely likeness with so much detail. I learned much from this video and thank you!

Yes, he is so very cute. You caught a fantastic shot with the fluff and tongue--and then rendered it so very well. Love watching you and listening to your calm voice. This was great! :)

I'm watching some of your watercolor demos and your colors are so vibrant, can I ask what kind of watercolors you use? or if you use a variety then what kind do you prefer for vibrance? thank you! I'm enjoying the videos very much!

Lovely bird and wonderful video. I am so happy that you are so generous and share with us the whole process and do not speed it with loud music like many here on youtube. Could you mind to spell the name of the author you have mention, a man that has a book on sketching nature??? Sorry about my poor english. I wish you all the best and a lot of inspiring moments in nature.

muhlenstedt, your English is just fine! That would be John Muir Laws...he's terrific! And I'm glad you like the video...

Lovely little bird! What was the name of the paints you were using? I am experimenting at the present time. Thanks for the demo!

It's just my own custom palette, with colors I like squeezed into empty pans and allowed to set. It's an old Prang box I got on eBay...

Cathy love your little Wren! What was the name of the book and author that you mentioned while painting this little bird? ( right around 17:30 of the video)
@CathyJohnson7 жыл бұрын
That would be John Muir Laws' book. It's wonderful! On sketching birds, can't remember the exact name, but you can look him up.

He has a great website with lots of tutorials and demonstrations, also. He is quite fond of drawing and painting birds, in particular.
