At the beginning of the video I thought "This is gonna be a boring one" but let me tell you that at the end I just said I hope I had some memories as meaningful as you do. That's not just about a car but all the passion, effort and time with your loved ones. You can get it up and running so you can go with your wife and relive those precious moments.

Happy for you… my late brother left me an 87 grand national.. I tried 19 years ago to restore it… but I was 19 and knew nothing… didn’t even know cars used oil to run… and there I was with most guys dream car… it sat for 15 years and then I was challenged…here I am.. now wrenching myself thanks to KZbinrs like yourself. Thank you for the story. Thank you for all of the videos. I know you’ll finish your car with love and even more memories. Thanks bro..

@@organiccold I also watch Alex’s channel… tbh.. it was vice grip garages video that coincidentally sparked my light again on my brothers car. I’ve always made sure it was garage kept until I bought my own house, and now it just feels right ya know… do I know exactly what I’m doing? No… but… I have determination and KZbin to help. I know it’s not the same sort of story as Jarrods.. but I know what it means to never want to part with a car because it’s way more than just a car… I got it running and recently upgraded the brake system to a hydraulic system. Our mom and sisters definitely love seeing the car running again… thank all you guys… more than you know i am eternally grateful for all of your videos and the comments as well!

Jared, I’m a long time supporter of you. Even when this wasn’t 100% your channel. Don’t feel bad about not having any “wrenching” in the videos. This is the questionable garage, not wrench every day. We love this channel because we love you Jared. We love hearing why certain cars mean so much to you and story videos are sometimes better than full on wrenching videos. Anyways I guess what I am trying to get at is that you have a really solid fan base that enjoys anything and everything you do, so don’t fear putting out a video when there is little to no “work” done on camera. It’s nice to have the back story and depth of a project past just horsepower and numbers for a machine. ❤

Sometimes when people say “things don’t matter,” I don’t think they understand what circumstances might be involved. I have a pocket knife from my grandfather, a Jeep that I restored with the few precious spare minutes I had at that time. I have a chisel that my father forged in high school. Things? Maybe. But they become artifacts of my family and the memories with them are priceless. Good luck on this build. I don’t think you’ll regret a thing.

Your preaching to the choir my friend. We all understand. My “heart car” is an S13. I’ve owned three of them, but “the one” was a car I saved up and worked on for years. By the end it was a street legal track car. 380whp gutted, externally gated monster. It wasn’t very pretty, but it was sorted, and fast and so much fun. But I had so much blood and sweat and years of dreaming about what it would be like when it was done so when it finally was, it meant the world to me. I sold it when our track closed in 2005. But I wish I still had it. I loved that car so much.

Hey Jared, I can truly say that as a "car guy" in the 35 year since I got a driving license, there is a car that is a heart car. Actually teared up a little hearing how much the grey Supra meant to you and your wife. My Grandma sold my Grandfather's Saab 900 Turbo after he passed away in 1985 and purchased a new Supra in 1986. She brought it up to my house in the High Desert because she wanted to know what the top speed was and wanted me to take her for that ride. It was about as much fun as a 16 year old kid could have. She yelled ok at 130 mph on the speedo. My love for those cars was cemented.

The concept of the heart car hit me hard. My heart car wasn't even one I owned. My dad picked up a "little old lady owned" 1984 Buick Skyhawk in around 2005 for his daily driver. When my car blew up and I needed something to drive to college, he let me drive it. It was so small and "quick", and I loved it. He blew the engine about a year later, but I still think about that car nearly 20 years later.

Good video, Jared. I remember when you were working on my 1994 Supra, I would get to see and hear a bit about the silver MKIII you had. I recognize the feelings you and your wife have for that car because I and my son have the same feelings about my MKIV. Everyone in my family knows that it will always be my "favorite" and it will go to my son when I am no longer able to drive it. I hope one of his boys gets to understand how we are so attached to it, and possibly they may inherit a real special car some day. 😃😃😃😃😃😃

The heart car or moped, or what is it. That's the one you will always remember back to. It is the car that you love, but the other cars you may love them, but they don't have the same meaning as the heart car. It is heart warming to someone open up finally about their car. Everybody just got one of those cars, and everyone knows what it is.

I don't have a car like that. I loved my 86 Firebird through high school and into college, I wrecked it and the love affair ended. I loved my GTP unit it slowly dissolved, but still ran onto the trailer pissing raw fuel everywhere when the jack pushed through the lift point and crushed the fuel line. Then I wasn't in love with it anymore. I loved my 06 GTO, until I wrecked it. When I made the decision not to repair it, I felt bad that I let the car down, but I wasn't in love with it anymore. I've never had that lasting love affair with anything. I'm glad you have yours and I look forward to seeing you put your passion into that car.

Thanks for the story! I own an 83 and 87 Supra Turbo. I was mainly into MKIIs until I rode in a slightly modded MKIII at a Toronto Supra Club meet and then immediately fell in love kept my eye out for one and got mine for a great deal. 15+ years later I still own them. I dont drive them much (1-2k mikes/year) but still appreciate them and turn heads and have a lot of memories with. Ideally I always wanted an 84 and an 89+ and a TT-R Green Mica was always on the bucket list especially since they were allowed in Canada earlier than the states which I'm in Buffalo, NY so would occasionally go up and see one in person. Good luck and looking forward to watching the build!

I can relate to you SO HARD on this. I've followed you since the channel started (after Tavarish's earlier few videos). I recall you momentarily talking of this car as it sat in the background every now and then. Thanks for giving us the full full story of this car! I know EXACTLY what you mean. That one car where you've spent so much time in. My 2013 Audi A3 hatchback which I've owned for 10 years now, is the car where I took my now wife to our first date (which I combined with several errands I had to do and she happily/begrudgingly tagged along LOL) and drove off from our wedding, the car I picked up my cat in, the car we took to many road trips in and is in so many pictures in the background, the car my wife learned how to drive in (she lived in Tokyo before so she never had to learn how to drive until she moved out for me to the US hahaha). This car is my heart car for my wife and I and we both love its practicality and fun character. We have so many firsts together on this car and it means so much to us. I've recently done some work on it to preserve it now so it can last as long as possible; replacing gaskets, plugs, coils, oil separator, filters, etc etc.. with more robust ones and newer revision ones that came out for later iterations of the engine. You are seriously my inspiration to do all that by myself. Thank you so so much. --- Also, you're doing such a service to the community by selling it to another enthusiast to be their "heart car." That was such a beautiful statement. And seriously, Duane the Editor is the bro'est of total bro's. Lending $2500 to Kid Jared and future Son-in-Law which has now lead to their current career in KZbin. I bet he did see something special in you and it has paid off in spades. Thank you again for sharing your experience with us!!!

Jared I totally get it. There are sometimes just those cars that become part of the family and mean more to you than a lot of people can understand. I’ve had a ton of cool cars, Porsches, Astons, a Ferrari, but my old Buick from high school is the one that brings a tear to my eye to think about. I had it for nearly 20 years and followed me through 7 states and a lot of ups and downs in my life. Sadly that one is gone forever as it burned to the ground on the side of the highway. I had let it sit and rodents built a nest under it that caught fire when I tried to pull it out of storage. So build the Supra my friend, and keep those memories alive. We will all enjoy watching it come back to life!

My EVERYTHING car is a 1979 Chevy Stepside pickup. Ive had it since the day it was new. My dad was older and always in poor health, so we didn't do a whole lot together. But he bought me this truck when I was 17 and I grew up in it! When he developed dementia I would come over about 1-2 in the morning and drive him around in it. It calmed him as nights for him were tough. Gave my sainted mother a break too. It's sitting out in the driveway and hasn't run in about 8 years. Time for me to also start to work on the vehicle that means the most to me!! It will also go to my son one day, who loves it too! Just wish I had your skills..... 1968 C/10 sitting in my driveway, for 35 years i put off working on it, started to sell when my oldest son ( then 10 years old) asked when we were going to go riding in it..... 5 years ago I started the trip of from the ground up, new suspension, period correct 350 motor, building the 400 auto, one piece drive shaft, new rear gear with positive unit, lowered 4/5 inches. All that time my wife knew I put off my truck to raise kids, home, dogs, family. When I started, she has never questioned the money I spend( well she knows I cheap so chances are I did not spend a lot) But not long ago, she said lets go for a ride, Boxer in the middle her at the door we rode in my truck. Now I say we rode in my truck, 480 lift/230 duration, new vortec 5.7 heads, 10.1 compression, Eldebrock intake, HEI distributor, the first full throttle pass was her screaming and laughing as it spun thru second and part of 3rd, and I realized it had been 40 years since burned a tire in this same truck. Dreams only die when you give up, fix the car, give your wife the keys and let her remind you how she won that race, my wife's first car was a 72 SS Chevelle so I had big shoes to fill.

Having talked to you on twitter about this, I am so, so glad you're getting to your heart car finally. I have one myself I completely understand, and it is absolutely time to do it, and do it right. I say make everything what it is supposed to be from paint to engine to interior and then *use it*. Every car gets dents, wear, needs replacement parts, but your heart lives in one place. Don't get all Ship of Theseus, it's all there in that shell. My heart car is also my wedding car. It's a silly, awful little european city hatchback with no real value to anyone. My heart car is going to have to be scrapped in the next year. My parents in law have to sell their house for complicated reasons, and I literally can't afford to move it from their shed where they've piled trash bags filled with rubbish all over it, to my house, where we're banned from having any "project" cars.

If anyone reading this wants to know what my Heart Car is, it's a 1993 facelift Fiat Panda. Not a 4wd like the one Doug Demuro reviewed, but very similar. I've tried to scrap it twice and failed both times being a sentimental fool. I've owned it since just before my 19th birthday. My grandad helped me repair the head gasket, and he's now passed and this is the only thing I have left that he touched. As I said it was my wedding car. I've owned this car for fifteen years, and because I've become disabled, a full time carer for my disabled husband, and a home school teacher for my eldest child I haven't got the time, money, nor physical ability to fix my car any more. It was also put away with a bunch of small and big issues that would make getting it on the road even more problematic. Don't do what I did and what Jared was in danger of doing and leaving it until it's too late.

Jared, Thanks for sharing with us why the 89 Supra meant so much to you. Your decision to build it totally makes sense and sale the twin turbo R. I really enjoyed you sharing about your wife driving it in mode B. "Well the important question is did you beat 'em?" 🤣 Like a true care guy.

Literally the exact same game and reason my dream car for a long time was a Mitsubishi GTO Twin Turbo AKA 3000GT VR-4. It isn't anymore, but still one of my favorites for sure. Fix your Supra!

Awesome man, I got my childhood dream truck. My dad sold it when I was young and I was able to buy it back from the guy about 6 years ago it’s a 450hp sbc short bed gmc i put a brand new engine in it that has the same horse power and torque but a bigger cam so I have to change the converter out to a 2800 stall… anyway I’ve been planning on getting it up and running this year and you have helped me to work even harder in getting it running sooner thank you and I will be watching to see you get your dream car running as well!!

I know the feeling man and it was the same way for me. I've owned multiple supras in my lifetime through all the generations . And none spoke to me more then the mk3 . I've always wanted a twin turbo r or just a jza70 in general. All the 6 ma70 supras I've owned have been my babies. But it's always hard to give up one of your loves but getting to keep one of them in the family, especially ones that has so much sentimental value usually means the most. Whenever you do list it for sell definitely be one of the interested parties tho. Keep up the good content man were all here with you

You are doing the right thing. That Supra is sweet. May never be the fastest but it is awesome. That generation Supra got me to really like them. A guy at work in Atlanta had a dark gray manual one with the targa top.

I completely understand! I sold my 16th chapel car and regret it every day. For most a 1995 Saturn SC2 is not what you would call amazing or a car guys car. It was my wife's first brand new car. 1 year later I became a Saturn tech. over time I learned how to build a Saturn to fly. This was all done by taking stock parts from different years. Like pistons out of a 1999 twin cam and run with the lighter 91-98 crank, or taking the head off of a 91 twin cam due to it's bigger valves. I did both when the car reached 200K miles. My wife got a 2001 special edition Yellow 3 door SC2(We still have this car with 298k miles with original clutch and untouched motor . Our daughter who started out in the back seat in an infant seat is the driver) and the 1995 SC2 became my daily driver so it had to get fast. I also swapped out the auto trans with a manual trans. By the time I was done the Saturn went from 124hp to close to 300 hp. Being an honest tech and not up selling jobs on every car that came into the shop, funds were tight when it was time for our son to start driving. I figured it was too much power in a small car for a new teen driver. We could not afford to buy another car and keep Sweet Pea. ( My wife named it) I sold it with 300k miles and we purchased a more responsible vehicle that would fit 3 hockey bags and sticks in the back.. I left Saturn and became a Police officer. My son now drives a 1990 Nissan 240SX and a 2003 Lexus GS300......Like a turtle. He did not get his parents lead feet. I have searched for that car but can not find it. Both my wife and I have moved on to Jeeps. You can see this 1995 SC2 on my IG car page @skittlesgarage. Let me know if you find this car.

I totally get your attachment to your family member Supra. And your trouble deciding what to do with it. My input. Sell the Twin Turbo, and get after the real important family member, and rebuild its soul back to the long term family car it is. No need to make it what it’s not, make it what it is but only better. And that does not mean cranking it up to the point of un drivable over the edge of control speed and power. Keep it in the family and keep it lovable and enjoyable. For both you and your wife. Do it right. Don’t over do it.

I feel you Jared. My first car I had and learned so much in it. Taught my wife to drive in it. Hell my daughter (at 2y/o) drove it around the parking lot. All the dumb things I did in it i had it for 10 years I was never going to get rid of it. (Been offered 2k just to put it up for sale I refused) sadly about three years ago some lady in a 2019 4runner slammed into it doing 40.....my dog and I walked away with no injuries. I wasn't even sore it hit so hard my seat broke. She was still able to drive home. But she would never be safe again without serious time space and money. Which I had none of so I had to get rid of her😢 that opal metallic green Honda refused to die (my profile pic before wheels and suspension I have on another now). I still get choked up when I think about the car. I'll always own a 90-93 accord.

I feel you Jared. Had an 4 door S15 GMC Jimmy 20 years ago. It was the first car I bought with my own money. It had blue smoke coming out the tailpipe at the used car lot, but I knew it was an easy fix. Some gaskets later and it turned into the most reliable car I ever owned. Kept it for 6 years until it started giving me ignition switch issues and needed a new set of tires. Although it was in great condition, It wasn't worth much at the time($900).Felt irresponsible to put money into it. I wish I could get it back. Now these suckers are selling for over $10k again. If I had the space, I would have kept it forever.

I know all about hart cars. Mine was the car a 1965 Mustang given to my by my Mom, who got it from her dad. I made the mistake of selling it to a friend at the time because he needed a car. I told him, if he ever wanted to sell it to let me know because I would buy it back.. not even a month later I found out he sold it to someone else across the state. I have been looking for it for the past 25 years.
