I’ve seen this happen with FCP Euro when they sold defective parts and I left a negative review. They removed it and the part still had glowing 5 star reviews. You CANNOT trust any reviews on the company’s own website because the control what is shown. Always check independent sources for everything. They’re in the business of making money, anything that goes against that isn’t in their best interest.

If Turo removed your review, that means Turo is as shady as the guy you rented from. Regardless if they eventually sided with you, that's shady removing a customer's review. So avoid Turo completely then.

Turo is weird too. Depending on the car owner's plan. Turo could collect money from a damage claim and if it's less than their deductible turo just pockets it. So strange

I've rented a few cars from Turo. What I noticed is when renting a nice car (last one was a 992 turbo) after you book, they almost always say something like "well that car isn't available any longer, but if you rent from our site, you can get a better deal", so they send you through a non-turo site, I assume, so they make more money. It worked out, and we had a blast with the car, but overall a bit weird.

With all the things I've read about Turo I decided that the $30 a day Mirage with unlimited mileage and all damage covered from Enterprise is fine with me when i need a rental.

I can tell you haven't rented a car since covid. I just looked and it's $66.08 a day for the cheapest class of car and that's before the insurance which I highly recommend getting. I rented a compact car for 5 days in Orlando last year and it was over $800.

I've personally experienced enough issues with Airbnb to stop using it for good and have heard enough bad things about Turo to stop using it as well. Big company hotels and renters are too big to care about minor things so they're my go-to for the foreseeable future.

I had a really bad experience with Turo the one time I tried to use it. I arrived in my target city and found out that Turo had cancelled my reservation without letting me know. They said I did it but I did no such thing. Left me stranded. I'll never use them again.

Turo is garbage and now more expensive than the actual car rental companies. One time I rented from Budget rental car and backed into a curb which caused slight damage to the exhaust pipe. I didn't choose their insurance when I reserved the car so I fully expected them to file a claim with my insurance for the damage and they never did.

The issue is the company has little to no say in the matter. Just that the owner of the cars are scummy. I mean I would say read reviews but one should be careful. And know what you are doing when you rent a car. Turo is better as in they let anyone rent a car or become a host but then again I'm I'm sure that causes the issues we see now. Also most people I know with a turo fleet have a manager who picks up and drives the cars to the pickup locations. There is bound to be damage in that and there is no way the owner will know if the damage is from the customer or the manager.

You don’t need to apologize to the seller Hoovie. I find it hard to believe that they wouldn’t have noticed any of the leaks during the time they owned it even though it may have been a short amount of time. They didn’t disclose the issues plain and simple. The only reason they are willing to try to make it right is because of your platform. If it was anyone else who didn’t have your following, I’d doubt they care. Great videos as always.

I've used Turo several times with good results. But last summer we paid > $1200 for a two-day Jeep rental, easily double what we expected. The main issue was that we got a flat tire which the seller had repaired (replaced the tire) at the most expensive place possible: the Jeep dealership. It's also where he worked, go figured. We had the extra Turo insurance, but Turo convinced us to not make a claim because of an 15% fee (IIRC). In retrospect I've learned my ins. co. covers Turo rentals so I shouldn't have spent the extra $170 on it. But anyways, I'm not renting another Turo they have offer LDW policies similar to the major rental companies. Otherwise, the risk of incurring very high costs just isn't worth it.

I'll never do it again after getting a "must be hand-washed before turning in the car fee" on a Tesla model 3. Never had to pay it but Turo customer support was basically no contact about the entire situation. Probably ok if you find the right host but as a renter how are you supposed to do that, this guy had great reviews, I guess all those other people just paid it.

I used to try to use it, but the fees basically double what you see as the list price. Then, there’s the coordination that must take place for pickup and dropoff and the chance that the host cancels. Much more trouble than it’s worth. I started renting through national for $42/day at most locations. About as good as you’re going to get and almost zero effort.

I had a rental from National that went through a hail storm when I had it and had hundreds of hail dents all over the car and when I returned the car I told them and they said "no problem" and that was the last I heard about it.

Wizard going from "money money money" to "oh I owe you money" was the best part of the video. Also - from a guy watching all the US shenanigans from Latvia - when you rent a car from Turo (or any other rental you don't 10 000% trust) - take your high-quality DSLR camera, high-res camera phone or whatever else you can muster - and take a literal crapton of high-quality zoomable pictures BEFORE RECEIVING THE CAR - if it's delivered in person, preferably with the owner/rentor in the pictures, with the remaining pictures having the same date/time stamps on them. Photograph the bumpers, handles, lights, edges of the car, interior, seats, etc. Then - when you hand the car back - if all is good - you'll have 500 free pictures (you're not using costly film, are you?) to remember a great car/vacation by. If however the owner/rentor starts pulling any BS - you can immediately go "F off sumpitch, I got pics" - and make him screw off with tons of evidence. If Hovie had done this - he wouldn't have to pay anything - not even 78 bucks - and could just ridicule the rentor until the end of time. Anyway. Jeaolous of the kid's first car - well earned, little Breaking Mad. Best of luck from Latvia.

This is a problem with sparrows in my parking area. They use the rear view mirrors as perches, and also the side window mouldings playing with the image they see in the mirror, thinking it's another bird. The glass if full of pecking marks. So, the mirror casing and mouldings get scratched, and there's bird poop all over the front doors. I now turn in my mirrors when I park and tie a plastic garbage bag over the mirror as they dislike the rustling sound.

Small world. I was vacationing in Vegas around this same time and saw this listed. It looked too good to be true. I ended up trying to rent a GTR instead for "$298/day". After fees they wanted close to $1k. I got a cheap 2 series beater instead for around $200. I took about a hundred pictures before and after highlighting every single thing I could find since I've heard horror stories like this. I've used Turo about 10 times and have never had an issue, but stories like this sketch me out.

I feel sorry that you had to deal with that owner. I’m a Turo Power Host with over 1,000 trips here in Las Vegas also. Here’s some tips to hopefully help everyone here if you ever rent on Turo. 1. If it’s your first time renting, rent from an All Star host. One with at least a few hundred trips. They will have a system down and probably won’t try to nickel and dime you. 2. Take your own check in photos every time. I recommend this with any rental company actually. This protects you. I believe most turo hosts are good. But just like anything else, you will run into some that are not. Its bound to happen in an open marketplace like this. Limit your risk by following the 2 tips above. And remember that the negative experiences are always louder than the good ones. Especially when social media is involved.

I've never used Turo. I've WANTED to use it...but everytime I find a car, there seems to be some kind of issue/cost, etc that makes renting it more of a pain than going to my usual National and just getting in what I want to drive. I've heard lots of these nickel/dime stories and yeah, the fees are silly. $96 for 2 days of "standard insurance" no way. So now I'm like....what's the point if I'm going to get scammed on fees. Same thing for Airbnb, which I have used, but if the host charges outrageous fees, I don't rent it.

You can decline it and use your own personal insurance. Many hosts like myself would work directly with you. Not all of us are emotionally attached to our vehicles.

We used Turo once in Hawaii. Based on reviews from others we took a hundred pictures of the car before and after we brought it back. I made sure the car owner was there when we picked it up and took it back. To protect myself.

I have rented Corvettes on Turo a couple times and I have never had an issue other than my total with fees being a couple by hundred dollars more than the original rental price. I rented a C7 Z06 for 5 days and I paid just over $1200. I think it was a fair price and I definitely enjoyed myself. I also went over on mileage lol.

This story is a good example why it's worth taking a few minutes to go over the rental (regardless who's renting it) car before getting in. I always take a walk around video (with evidence of the time and date), providing verbal commentary on any damage, issues or imperfections; it makes it very difficult for anyone to come back and claim damage on the car with such counter evidence.

I am a former import technician and watch yours, Alex and Wizard’s channels religiously (Doug and Tavarish too, when I catch them!) and you have saved me from buying a few wrong cars because of your reviews. I was a Turo host with multiple (classic) cars for a while. I made good money on the platform and they treated me well, but I had issues with the renters I kept getting. Final straw came when one of my cars "stranded" a renter. Because they flooded the engine and cranked the starter until the battery died. They didn't pay attention when I was explaining a 1967 GTO isn't just the same as the Camry they showed up in. They complained, Turo refunded them, I didn't get paid and they deplatformed the car until I could show them a receipt from repair by an ASE shop. I moved my cars to the DriveShare platform which is a MUCH better fit.

The idea of Turo sounds nice on paper but I've heard too many bad stories to ever want to use it. Plus the fees are always high. I've always rented cars through Enterprise and have never had a bad experience. The one in the Las Vegas airport is especially great and have given me free upgrades several times.

My son rented a pickup from Enterprise. He picked up some chippy with it and that night while he was sleeping, she wasn't and stole the damn thing. Enterprise was super about it, the insurance paid the whole thing. Police found it wrecked and beat to hell.
