Indeed, and that was Randy starting a new push. That's how you demonstrate talent, by making your opponent look like they killed you, especially their finisher. A professional opponent will often pay it back by helping you look good, unless it's understood it's a squash. Brock Lesnar is well known for keeping his image looking strong, but also selling his opponents moves like they are big money, and he can usually build ok talent into mega stars. Dolph Ziggler and Heath Slater are two other fairly recentish wrestlers who have a knack for doing the same, and it's always great to see the next generation understand the importance of it too. The Great Khali had a unique sell style that went under appreciated at first, but if you watch his matches back, you develop an appreciation for it. He will start out on the Hulk Hogan Hulked up level of no sell, but as you deliver signatures or other impactful moves, he'll loosen this up. This gives the wrestler he's fighting a look of tenacity and toughness, weathering a literal juggernaut, and they rarely have him take a fall directly to preserve this image, unless they really want to mega hype the win. Many viewers tune out unless the start of the match is instantly attention grabbing, but Khali did a good job working the opposite direction.

yeah while taker takes basically all the impact on his knees, if they were just relying on his grip there's a chance that their weight will cause them to slip down and still smack their head on the mat, so them holding on helps keep them from slipping, even then it's a risky move that's why Taker's been the only one that been allowed to do piledriver type moves in WWE for years

The full nelson (hurt lock) (master lock) is actually an extremely dangerous if not executed with extreme care, it is illegal with good reason in competition as in competition, nobody is going easy, everything is full strength, and it can apply tremendous pressure on the neck and back of the head. Balor collapses his legs on impact. Its no different than minimizing ones bounce on a trampoline. It still takes a ton of skill, but effectively you are shifting you momentum backwards by redirecting your fall. If done right the impact is minimal. You can actively watch him do this.

Finn puts basically zero pressure into the stomp part of the move. Otherwise the person taking it would die, or be heavily injured. The person taking it also crosses their arms. Your forearm is a very strong part of your arm that can take a lot of weight.

He crunches his body like car shocks to avoid being stiff when he lands. His legs/knees bucking(or the perception of it) as he makes impact removes a lot of the forces transferred. (essentially, he's mastered being completely limp to transfer as little potential energy as possible, while also doing a REALLY good job _looking_ like he's rock solid) Him also being essentially cruiser weight also helps. Yes, it would suck every time. But even without flopping to his back immediately, there are other things he's doing to maintain the -safety- non-death of his opponent.

Back in the days me and a few friends (especially one) experimented a bit with wrestling moves for fun... Like a lot did overall... The Suplex on a trampoline was the best experience imo. I mean it can be kinda dangerous, so be careful, but it went well all the time for us and it feels pretty good. I mean theres a difference if u do something like a high flip to the back for yourself or if somebody else kinda does it for u. The thrill u get out of it is much bigger so to say. Anyways... A friend tried the Walls of Jericho or even more likely a Sharpshooter with me once, around 17 years ago. The problem was, that we didnt know how to do some stuff save, we just went for it.. What wasnt the best idea for that one. He somehow got a nasty angle on my back depending on how he held the feet and how far he leaned back. Maybe he even kinda tumbled too far back, i dont remember 100%, but it went pretty fast, instead of slowly getting to the point, where it starts to hurt. That hurted like a mf and i still felt that after a month at least. Glad i was only 13 or 14, flexible and pretty fit at that time, nowadays he probably would have broken my back. 😅

The Cross Rhodes should've been one of the most protected finishers, grabbing your opponent, spin them around similar to a swinging neckbreaker, and their head/face hitting the ground, the move looks and sounds devastating when it's sold correctly, just like the stunner and the cutter, and heck those moves and others can be reversed into The Cross Rhodes, it can be hit almost out of anywhere, yeah I know not like the RKO, but still The Cross Rhodes looks devastating, it looks more devastating than a lot of moves like the Rock Bottom, the AA, and many more, and it can reverse the RKO that gives it a run for it's money coming out of nowhere, it's DEFINITELY a great devastating finisher that DEFINITELY should've been given more praise and credit then A LOT of other finishers.

On the Styles Clash, it seems WrestleLamia has missed that the move was revised slightly. When it was first introduced, Styles went straight down and this is the root cause of the injuries along with tucking the neck. Now, Styles falls slightly forward like a front face bump. This takes the impact off the neck and moves it to the chest. This is far safer.

That’s why most submission finishers work that good: they look legit painful because they would be if proper pressure was applied. A real Kimura could break your arm, a Coquina Clutch or an STF could choke you out…but you just simply don’t apply pressure and there you have a credible and safe finisher.

Yokozuna early in his career was 300-400lbs and would land on the jobbers who had ripped abs even after Yoko landed feet first, so it wasn’t as bad. When he was over 600lbs he never landed on the guy but would gentle sit on the guy.

The Hurt Lock is easy to counter in a real fight. It's one of the first things I learned to do in self defense classes. Stomp the foot, or drive your head into the person holding you. If I'm slamming the back of my head off your face, you're going to let go.

I always thought RVD seemed to hurt himself more with the 5 star frog splash, for me Eddie Guerrero was more accomplished with it. As for the tombstone pile-driver and pedigree you can clearly see the head and neck are safely tucked away between the thighs. I think the most dangerous moves are obviously ones performed outside of the ring or mats. For example the last ride in a ring is just a back bump but on a concrete floor that’s at least a fractured skull with concussion and spinal damage. I’d like to know how the spear is performed safely, given Adam Edge Copeland’s injury caused by repeatedly delivering the move.
