There have been a lot of great factions throughout wrestling history. You just have to look at names like the NWO, D-Generation X, or The Four Horsemen for evidence of this. That said, even within those heavyweight groups there are always the clear stars and the clear mid card players. That’s why it’s almost unheard of then for a group to feature four men who all ended up becoming top tier superstars. Yes, in the early to mid 2000’s there was no one in WWE who ruled the roost more than the collective made up of Triple H, Ric Flair, Randy Orton, and Batista, and while during those initial years the latter two were clearly positioned as the up and comers, they’ve since gone on to reach levels of success comparable to their mentors themselves, with this making them arguably the most successful faction in wrestling history. Batista was actually the original choice but he got injured in a tag team against the Dudleyz. THEN Jindrack was chosen as a replacement and then Triple H, who didnt like Jindrack, pushed for Batista to be put back in Evolution. You can go back and see it yourself by watching late 02, early 03 Raw episodes. It was also confirmed by Batista and Jindrack themselves in the Evolution episode of Ruthless Aggression Series in the WWE Network.

Every great hero must have a villain of equal skill to rival to be able to send themselves through that glass ceiling. Stone Cold and Vince McMahon, Bret and Shawn. Some did it more than others but it will always be that way.

actually batista said in the ruthless aggression evolution documentary that batista was considered to be the guy in evolution first but he got injured so mark jindrak was the next guy up but mark jindrak was apparently very annoying and childish and since mark and randy were friends mark started to rub off on randy and both triple h and ric flair got tired of it so when dave was ready to compete again mark was out and batista was back in ps batista also stated that it pisses him off that everyone thinks mark was picked first and not him

I've always said that evolution was the greatest faction after the degeneration X days during the attitude era but not everyone in DX won a world championship. Everyone and evolution has to me that certifies greatness. I was always a fan of triple h still is he's one of my top three so him having this group I supported it and I grew love for Randy Orton and Batista. Rick was a legend knew him I knew he was established, but much love and shout out to evolution doing the 2002-2005 glorious Days of the Eric bischoff general manager Monday night Raw 💯💯💯

Aside from the Triple H reign of terror that murdered Raw every week, i was a huge fan of Evolution. For me they were the answer for a modern 21st century Four Horsemen with the perfect showcase of the past, present and future of the wrestling in one group. They had it all from the brains to the muscle to the looks and the talent to back it up every week, Evolution were the whole complete package. Evolution helped give Ric Flair his old confidence back and he was great in the role of mentor / manager, it cemented Triple H as the top heel and the group made two future main event stars out of Batista & Randy Orton who both went on to become decorated world champions. When it's all set and done, Evolution may very well be the greatest faction of all time.

Orton not being in the original WM21 plans but instead facing off the legendary Undertaker, whilst in the talks of conquering his undefeated streak, is a huge trade off, regardless of how we look at it. Orton's slow push to the main event spot over the last two years of the Ruthless Aggression era eventually paid off.
