Whoa this is legendary. Jerry Lawler discusses his heart attack, the death of Owen Hart, his feud with Bret, his disappointment in his "Mania Moment", and the real story of his beef with Jim Carey. Next time we will get to Memphis! So much to cover with this guy!

I met Jerry back in July 2001 in Ohio what a nice guy. This was when he left wwe and I remember asking him when he was going to come back and he just smiled and said we'll see Jim . So when he came back I was ecstatic. And I was there live when he got inducted into the hall of fame.

It's always nice when you come across any celebrity who does seem to be a genuinely nice guy/girl and Lawler appears to be one of them. I liked how highly he spoke of Owen Hart, and he's just one of many who has done so. I'm glad he's still with us after his on air heart attack on Raw and is doing well again and hope to still see him on our TV screens for years to come.

Agreed. I remember how King used to be. His arguments with JR, insults and heel attitude was priceless. Over the past several years he's been a shadow of that. Watching some old PPVs reminds me King used to live up to the name.

Funny Rosenberg brought up Owen Hart. The night in Montreal, when Lawler had the heart attack during the match between Hell No & PTP, and just fell out on to the floor there at booth,the fans actually chanted Owen Hart. It was random to the people watching from home, but those there live knew what had gone on, and it was not till after that I, as I am sure everyone else found out about it via michael cole. As Owen's ordeal came under the same circumstances - live tv. That still gives me chills.

Hey Pete, I saw that you tweeted Jake the Snake Roberts, earlier this year. I am just curious if anything came from that small interaction and if we can expect an interview between you two before Wrestlemania this year? It would be very interesting to see how he is doing these days in an interview specifically about that.

Lawler wasn't supposed to be the one to get revenge. Remember when HHH "broke" JR's arm and Steve Austin proceeded to unleash hell on him? The point was to make us beg to see Punk and Heyman get theirs-- between that, JR appreciation night, etc, and being champion so long, beating Cena, Ryback, etc,... the payoff was Punk/Rock at the RR. Kayfabe wise, even if Lawler tried to go after Heyman, Punk would have cut him off at the pass and hurt him big time. There was no hole in that booking.

Jerry Lawler should have had a piece of the WWE belt in early 93 at least. After Ric Flair's departure Lawler quickly established himself as the top heel to go face to face with Bret Hart. Would have drew huge ratings and made huge money. Without a doubt Lawler, Flair, Hogan and Hart were 4 big icons who all deserved a good amount of time as WWE Champion.

I didn't really see the fake heart attack thing with Paul Heyman as "showing attitude." Attitude and extreme in the past consisted of being more violent, risque storylines, foul language, sexual innuendos, etc. Not poking fun at a real life heart attack. That goes beyond "wrestling heat." Especially when Lawler never got his revenge on either of them, even in kayfabe.

i know but jerry made it sound like he just came down and hit the mat. and maybe to jerry it just looked like he brushed korderas because i think korderas was feet away from owen. i wonder how he severed his aorta though? was it his head whipping back with such extreme force or was it the fact that he landed flat on his chest onto the ropes which bended?

I see your point, but disagree slightly. The particular segment actually turned me off to the product completely for a while. When Michael Cole was a heel going against Lawler, yes, you wanted to see Cole get his ass kicked. But the Punk/Heyman segment was different in the sense that it made a lot of fans not want to support the product, more than it made them want to see them get their comeuppance. Seeing Punk get a kayfabe beatdown from Rock isn't adequate revenge for a real life mocking IMO.
@ianp751
@ianp751 11 жыл бұрын
You have too think, those ropes have elevator cables inside them, so i guess the speed with which he was falling, plus almost hitting the turnbuckle then hitting the mat at a high rate of speed would've done some major internal damage, his heart blew up on impact with the mat

I want to get into TNA I really do. I was a fan of them when they were still in the NWA, and they may have a roster that might be top to bottom better wrestlers than what WWE has now, and the Aces and Eights storyline it works. However, I feel like I am watching WCW at the very end. The two main male champions are over 40 (failed singles wrestlers at WWE) and Hulk Hogan has input into storylines. I want them to succeed it would make WWE and TNA better.
