I always liked Disco Inferno. From the moment his entrance music played and he started doing the "John Travolta point," it always brought a smile to my face. He was WCW's version of The Honky Tonk Man. My favorite moment of Disco was one of two hilarious segments for me watching WCW: His mocking of Konnan's music video on the March 15th 1999 episode of Nitro, the highlight of that bit having him get the term "Orale" confused with "Oil of Olay." 😆

Was never a big fan of Disco growing up, but it always looked like he was enjoying himself and just making the most of what he had. Lots of people in his position just phone it in as a midcard jobber, where as with Disco it felt like he somewhat tried to make it entertaining.

This is kind of similar to me. I was meh on him at the time, because he was usually feuding with guys I liked. But after watching so many years of wrestling, then going back and watching Disco Inferno do it, you have to appreciate the work and spirit the guy put into what should have been the stupidest, most throwaway gimmick on earth. It's like they gave him an outdated, cartoony gimmick as a joke just to make him go away, and he went and made a sort of magic with it.

Disco Inferno was one of my boys but my favorite type of humor is silly humor. The idea that there would be some guy who is stuck in the 1970s while wrestling in the 1990s just seemed strange to me, which is why I liked it. As for the man himself he seemed like a really hard worker who sold well and always tried to make the match look like a million bucks, but clearly had a character no one was taking seriously. I always felt a good character for Glenn as an Italian guy would be a guy who was the wrestling equivalent of Johnny Fontaine (from the Godfather). Someone who was pretty good but not the best but always got a shot because he had a powerful mafia don backing him up. Imagine Bischoff being dangled off some balcony by two huge mob guys while some powerful dude in a chair makes Eric an offer he cant refuse. Next Monday, Glenn in the title match. It might have drawn some heat.

One interesting fact that always gets left out is that Disco teased joining the filthy animals on the August 9, 1999 Nitro. He had a match with kidman and helped kidman fight off vampiro after the match. The animals ran down and disco held his hand out to kidman to shake it. Rey even tried to hug Disco, and disco ended up pulling his hand back and walking off. He didnt join the filthy animals for like another year after this.

I loved Disco. He was a good change of pace during the NWO stage. Also he was a pretty good ring worker as well. His fights and teaming up with Alex Wright (Dancing Fools) was a lot of fun! I think Chris Jericho got a lot of his heel WCW/Pre Y2K persona from Disco. If you look at Jericho during his Malenko feud he was a lot like Disco, just an idiot with no self awareness. Another thing Disco did really well was started feuds and got you interested in them. He was also over as hell! The Malenko Disco match was awesome, all the Wright matches, and his matches with the mid-car Luchedors were underrated. He really elevated the Cruiserweight division.

Disco was another one of those 90s guys who had a solid run, won some Titles, but sorta became forgotten, just like so many from the 80s, 70s, 00s, 10s, etc... Hopefully he saved his money.
