The original plan was for Snow to win the belt here but WWF decided to bring him back. That's why they suddenly changed Douglas to being an injured but fighting champion at the last minute. Heyman himself has even said the plan was for Snow to win and then Douglas would win the belt back once he was healed. That's also why we got that weird ending with both guys being held up. Brian, I love you and your content. It got me back into wrestling, in 2016. I had stopped watching in 09. I was watching the channel, when the 'No Mercy' song and video came out and it still gets stuck in my brain. I recall the first video, ' where were the Parents?' I don't remember what year I subbed but it's been a enjoyable ride. Here's the thing though. Yes, the Screw Job was in 97 and people are always bringing it up. I know. I was there and I still live, (5 minutes from) 'there'. I'm sick of hearing about it too. In all the years since. In all the docs. Fan interactions, Fan Videos and random mentions. I don't think I have ever, ever heard an English speaker pronounce Montreal properly! So, I'm here to unironically help. First off, please don't feel bad. You are about to be one, of a very rare group. The word starts with Mo. Throw in another M and you have a terrible tag-team, from the 90's. But that's not important right now :) Most people will say 'MO' as it looks but that's the problem. People say it with the same sound, as the word 'More'. It's not an insult, or terrible error, to say it that way because that is the way most people say it. They are frustratingly close but the right way, is Mun. Just like the 60's t.v. show, the Munsters. There is not a huge difference. So at this point some would say I'm being pedantic and I don't blame them. It doesn't change the fact, I am in the right. I wonder if it's just a local anomoly. So, like I said before I've been around theese parts for a long time and if I pronounce a French word wrong, I ask my friends and family to correct me. So please accept my Appology, for being pedantic. This is not personal. It's hopefully seen, as constructive criticism and the reason I picked you, is because you have a way with words, phrases and even coming up with some smack talking retorts and hilarious songs. You're a Wordsmith! I hope you to read this and try to make the suttle switch. It's not a life changing moment but around 30 or 40 years ago, there was a similar situation withn Gordon Sollie and the word 'suplex' which he would pronounce, as Sue-play. It's an interesting story, if you feel like reading up on it. :) So Cheers to you Mr. Zane and even if you ignore my entire explanation. I will still Love your channel and all of the great things, it taught me and FINALLY, I have chance to be the teacher :) Salut from Montreal.

Bam Bam beats Snow and sends him packing for WWF. Taz feuds with Bam Bam and beats him for the title. I have two theories on The Bushwhackers... Sure, the Philly fans can shit all over them for their WWF work, whatever....but it’s also speaks to how smart marks are still marks because at the end of the day The Bushwhackers had some blood bath matches, kind of like The Moondogs did. Hell that’s part of what helped get The Fabulous Ones over so damn good, both Steve Keirn and Stan Lane looked like the Chippendale Dancers but those brutal matches made them over in Memphis and Florida

I can scratch my nails on a chalkboard all day long. I can scrape a fork on a plate all day long. I dont know what other noises make people's spine shiver, but i know that if i were in that arena with all of those heads rubbing together i might have passed out. Or curled in a fetal position on the floor. Styrofoam is made by the forces of evil. I cant touch it. Just typing about it rubbing together is like a horror movie. {Shudder}

I think Heyman kept the belt on Douglas for so long because he didn't want to have his new top wrestler (Taz) beat his injured champion in the same way Stone Cold just beat Micheals. He was very admant about not being like the wwf and was worried fans would reject Taz if he easily beat an injured Douglas. So they put Snow in there to build Shane up as still a credible threat. Of course, the match sucked and everyone hated it but when Taz and Shane finally went at it in 1999 it was good. The show was really a disaster. Taz was injured to, so he didn't wrestle. Sabu was crazy sick. His matches with RVD in 1996 had a lot more intensity and the ones in 1999/2000 were really good but this one was a mess. Balls and Axl came off as huge chumps. My biggest problem with it. No Too Cold Scorpio. He was back in ECW for a little bit here and him vs Bigelow would've been perfect. Way better opponent for Bigelow than New Jack. The fans were chanting for Scorpio during the Dudley match so they definately wanted to see him.

I would have asked Paul did the fans reject Austin when he beat an injured Michaels? Fuck no they didn't and I would argue they wouldn't have cared in this situation either.

Candido and Storm is an incredible teamup. I have to admit, I didn't appreciate ECW in its heyday. Some really solid wrestling in there. Did you see Lance's drop kick ACROSS the entire ring? Ridiculous.
@GetBenched20103 жыл бұрын
Regarding the Candito/Storm tag team. This style of booking was Heyman's answer to the Dusty Finish. He utterly destroyed his own tag team division in the last 3-5 years of ECW's original run with the CONSTANT overuse of the wacky impromptu tag teams that hate each other that somehow shock the world and win the tag titles. It was cool when he put Cactus and Mikey together like this, but by 98 or so, it was so bad and so predictable that the fans even in Philly would groan when it happened.

Ya it’s interesting looking back. Hayman and ECW wanted Douglas to be their main event player, the face of the company so bad. But in 2021 when people think of ECW their are 9 guys fans think of before Douglas. Douglas and later Justin Credible were just as cramped down our throats as people would later say Cena and Roman Reigns were.

I don't trust things with "-palooza" in their name. Always brings to mind mid-european kiddie amusement parks from the seventies that warrant documentaries being made about them years after their closure that include lots of grainy, black-and-white footage and ominous music while people talk about "that day".

I usually don't like comedy in wrestling but i agree with Zane, the opening match with the bWo and the FBI is funny as hell. While the Whipwreck vs Credible match was good, if there is only one match to check out on this disappointing ECW PPV, it's the opener.

11:09 - This is the show where New Jack OD'd on cocaine before the match and got blown up when his blood pressure spiked to the moon. He didn't knock himself out on the balcony spot. He just collapsed from exhaustion. 9:02 - Also, a bit of a fail not to mention JYD's face being gimmicked as result of a New Jack sucker punch in the locker room over some drug money. God, I miss ECW.
