Hell. Yes. I’ve watched an embarrassing amount of Mic Drop reactions, but you’re the first to point out the instrument handoffs with the melody. I realized this time that you’re really good at bridging the musical layman, actual musician gap. You still use technical terms, but in a way that’s not honors music level. You keep it at 101, which makes you accessible. Also, how you point out the details on what makes these live performances so special is so awesome. People know they’re top tier, but don’t always understand why that is exactly! Love watching your take from my oboe playing, audio engineer background.

I even gave a pair of tickets away to a fellow ARMY that lived close by in LA for a surprise! It was wonderful seeing her reaction. In Vegas I was fortunate to be front row near the trolley and main stage night 3 and parallel to the side of the trolley and stage night 4. I could see them up close and see all the production crew and dancers working hard. The stage, their performances, was all just so amazing! They truly know how to put on an unforgettable concert!

BTS were going for a "rock festival" vibe for this particular concert, so that's why the mix sounds like a metal/rock arrangement. They usually work with a Korean band called Ghost, but for this concert, they worked with the music directors who were also involved in J-hope's performance at Lollapalooza, though with different musicians. "Led by music directors Asaf Rodeh and Jonathan Linav and held together by sound engineer Jung Wooyeong (all of whom also worked on j-hope's historic HOBIPALOOZA set), BTS' Yet To Come in Busan live band comprised Kenji Chan on guitar, Matt Hines on bass, Pierre Jamerson on keys, and Al Cleveland III on drums. These are also the guys you see laughing behind BTS when they're running and teasing each other on stage." --- Meet the creatives behind the scenes of BTS' 'Yet To Come in Busan' concert

It’s fun to know that the rapline (J-Hope, Suga, Rm, who writes most of bts songs) originally came up with the idea of writing this song after Obama dropping his mic at his final WH correspondents’ dinner! The melody is written by J-Hope, and also the rest of the song is written based on J-Hope’s first verse. In other words, his verse gave directions to the continuation writing of the song. He is legit a genius. The holy trinity of Kpop. BTS rapline is the pillar of bts for reasons.

Good sir, you absolutely must* see the EXTENDED live version for Mic drop. The dance breaks take it to another amazing level. They obviously opted out for this one (unusual I think for a live performance) because they were going directly into Run BTS. Their SNL performance of Mic Drop was really great, even though the stage was so small they made it work. By the time they did their second set (first was Boy With Love) it seems they had won over the crowd, and they came in hot with Mic Drop. J-Hope was really feeling himself that night🔥 Anyway man, I subbed here a few weeks ago and really enjoy your channel! Seeing people discover BTS is my new favorite hobby

I think they gave this whole show 110% effort (I’m not saying that they never give their all ,they always deliver !) I think they seemed to put in a bit more umph because 1. They haven’t been able to perform in front of a live audience that often since the beginning of the pandemic.and 2.They knew this would be there last performance as a group of 7 for a while.❤So I think all of that gave them just a little bit more motivation to make this whole show as kick ass as possible!

I’ve been following BTS since Nov.2017 & watched a lot of reactor experts (singers/vocal coaches, rappers, musicians, songwriters, dancers/choreographers, composers, music/video producers etc) all to get informed & appreciate BTS’ artistry more. Of all the music reactors I’ve seen, you’re the best-most complete analysis of BTS + bands’ talents/skills, teaching music/stagecraft (eg handoffs, turns) and most of all the importance of PRACTICE. Trainees are required to continue going to school, then afterwards hours hours hours (14-16 daily) of practice (+ voice lessons etc) = Beyond Tier Level Performances. Sometimes they practice 18hrs to learn new choreo for new performances. BTS’ dedication & work ethic speaks to their desire to be the best & give their best to ARMY (fans)-all while remaining humble & true to their roots.

Context for the song: this song came out both when they broke through the "Big 3" in the Korean music industry as well as when they were rising in the west/globe (doing something no other Korean artist has never done and helping to create a path for other Korean artists after them to have access/success to the global market). When they were rising up in Korea, they experienced massive hate and had multiple allegations of chart manipulation and "buying their own albums to boost chart positions." These allegations got so bad, they had to go to court to disprove them (and of course won). Sad thing: their defense was that their company was near bankrupt and the simply didn't have the money to do any of the stuff that others were accussing them of (and which is common practice for big labels in the industry). Their rise was truly organic, and this song was released at a time when they were basically telling the world that their success was earned and that no one could tell them otherwise and that the haters could shout all they want but they're proud of their success. MIC DROP. Recommend checking out the MAMA 2017 performance of this song. They got Artist of the Year and basically shattered the stronghold the "Big 3" music labels in Korea had on awards. *Big 3 are the labels YGE, JYPE, and SME--thinking of them like the UGM, Atlantic Records, etc but in Korea; BTS's label was near bankrupt in 2015, and then they rose so much that they began outselling the UGM/Atlantic Records of K-entertainment combined.....and they were just one artist

You are really excellent at breaking down their live performances in a way I haven't seen other reactors do -- some focus only on the rapping/MC-ing or vocal techniques (e.g. vocal coaches) but you pointing out the band, the energy, their professionalism, what's hitting you about their live performances is really unique and interesting, and I think you have a great way of speaking professionally without making it inaccessible to non-musicians. Thanks for your reactions! I also support your correct opinion. BTS are better live, and that's really saying something. They are meticulous about their performances and really focus on making the best show for ARMYs they possibly can, so we can have our "communion" of love. I think it'd be cool to see you break down the original or Steve Aoki remix of Mic Drop (and see the lyrics) in comparison to this live. The original is more hip-hop, the Steve Aoki remix incorporates more EDM. This metal/rock remix was a first and only for this performance as far as I know (BTS does this a lot - they have remixes they only use for concerts and don't make available, no matter how much we beg 🤣)

This was their opening song at their recent live concert in Busan. Their energy was carried through to each song they performed for 2 hours. What no one knew...this was their last concert together....because... They were are volunteering to go do their 2 year military duty before they got a special exemption from the government. They didn't want anyone in the country to think they got special treatment. However, the country is going to literally lose more than a billion dollars a year. They attract so many tourists, fans that buy their merch, and companies will lose out on BTS doing commercials for them thus loss of that revenue too. Not to mention that BTS traveling and performing in other countries and representing the country as ambassadors is a great loss for the country as they promote South Korea and their culture. Jin will go to the military by the end of this year. So goodbye til 2025...or later. Because JK goes in at 2028. Thanks for your great reaction and precise comments on all their outstanding band and group talent. You do have good insight!

Not sure if it’s already commented, this band was only used for Hobi performance in lollapalooza and they brought them in for this performance. The band did amazing work with them for this performance!!

This is the song that sent me down the BTS rabbit hole. The very first BTS song I had ever heard.

I really enjoy your reactions to BTS. I’ve always loved metal, hard rock, indie music (Tool was my top fav up until I got into BTS) people are often surprised how much I love BTS, but their discography is deep and all but a few of their songs are amazing. When you add how their performances are on an even higher level than their studio recordings, it’s insane. I’ve now seen 6 of their concerts in person, plus I was able to get barrier at J-Hope’s Lollapalooza concert, and I can tell you with confidence that in person another level higher than watching these recordings. Best concerts in my life and I’ve seen some amazing ones - Heart, Ozzy, Metallica, Tool, etc. Also, thank you for recognizing and appreciating Jimin’s voice. You would be amazed at the hate he gets for his singing. I like unique voices and his is one of those rare voices that you will not only recognize immediately due to its unique quality and tone, but will also enjoy (unique doesn’t always translate to enjoyable 😊), with an amazing range, and his vocal control for his high range (and he goes quite high, an A5 on one of my fav bts songs “let me know”) is impressive and very emotive, although I’ll admit I’m most fond of his lower register and his growl. All of the vocal line is impressive, but for some reason, Jimin seems to be the only one to get hate for his singing, so it is nice to see it appreciated.

I loved your comment. People have teased me for loving them but I agree with so many comments here. They put so much work and effort into their songs and performances. Seeing them in concert is another level. For sure!
