Something very interesting I realized after all these years: Angel (the patchwork girl) is a Shepard of death; showed up in that moment because Vinkle was about to die. She was lifting up the blanket because she was just about to take him. However, she vanished when Icky, Huey, and Calamity arrived because they now had the power to save him.

I heard one once. Eleven years ago in a tiny town in a rural part of Georgia that was nearly entirely Black, I was invited to be part of a bible study group for current and former pastors. They met in a tiny, drafty little building heated only by space heaters in the humid Winter cold. My and my friend were the only two Whites there. The group started each service with a Hymn, and they sang "Wayfaring Stranger" once. Unlike our church, where we had codified four-part harmony in our hymnals with an organ playing along to make sure everybody knew their part, these ministers sang like seen here: one person at the front of the group led with a base melody, and everybody else just did whatever. No supporting instruments except the one guy slowly tapping his foot to provide a beat. Everybody knew the song, though, and it seemed like each person had their own favorite way to contribute. Some people, like Huey, just sang the melody in a stylized way. Grace notes, scoops, and slides were common. Others sang it with as pure a voice as they could. Other people, like Kitty, had a harmony that they sang. Rarely were two singing the same harmony, but rarely did they conflict because everybody knew the underlying chord structure by heart. Other people, like Jane, would provide counter-melodies with completely different but related lyrics. Some people would just add plaintive, melodic cries to Jesus over or under the singing. Sometimes people would just drop in and out of the singing, switching between active praise and silent contemplation as the mood took them. It was sacred, not just because the subject matter was sacred, but because it was a deeply personal form of worship that was being shared with my friend and I, complete outsiders. We were truly visitors to another gospel culture I didn't even realize existed here in the United States. I've longed to find this style of singing recorded somewhere to I could relive that memory. This version is closest I've found. Just imagine hearing this, but with sixteen people all singing at once, each with voices this good, each contributing in a unique way. With two awe-struck white guys at the center looking around in wonder.

Your version of Wayfaring Stranger made me weep....it was...beautiful. This series is fantastic, the music, the characters, everything. The animation fits, its warm, and simplistic. When I was young in elementary school, there was a show on Public Broadcasting they would show in class, where a guy would narrate a story and do very simple drawings of key scenes while they were read. I miss that kind of story telling, these videos have a glimmer of that lost art..and that is a very special thing. Continue to fill this dark world with light and wounder...

So, if I am not mistaken, this must be around the time that Charles, the boy living in the forest with Amaroc and Angel, must have caught Ixtlilton and took the Mask he wore on his eyes that kept the Black Tezcatlipoca sealed away along with the Choker and the (earmuffs?). Removing the Mask Seal let slip some of it, consuming Ixtlilton and infecting the others. That about sum it up? Which brings to question, just why did Charles take it and why is Amaroc helping him?

Beautiful arrangement, and sudden exposition explosion! I've been working with a lot of music lately. I've been working with a folk band, learning new techniques, new songs... I want you to know that your work has been a huge inspiration to me. We've been working on a cover of The Bells, and I'm definitely adding Wayfarin' Stranger to my personal performance list. Your music selection is always exceptional. You always seem to find pieces I've never heard of from bands I think I know really well. And the minimalist style is simply wonderful. Thanks for all your work putting this together. This one was definitely worth the wait!

that song at the end needs to be on Spotify or someone needs to put it on a like 10-hour loop

Betsy, I would just like to say you did an incredible job with the "poor wayfaring stranger"/"ain't no grave" mix. It's stunning! I sang it at my uncle's funeral a few months ago because we both loved those songs. Thank you

Absolutely amazing. animation takes time and with that you were great. I dont care how long it takes for these to get made. Take your time and make it grow and make it well.

Gotta say coming back to this old episode after 6 years really puts me at ease. And this cover of wayfaring stranger hits home since I’m leaving for the military in two days. I’ll be sure to catch up on the new episodes after my 6 months is done, keep up the good work Betsy Lee

How do you mix Native Mythology, Furries, and Homestead so well? Easy, you just have to be an animator that is named Betsy Lee Like this is legit one of the best animated series on youtube, keep it up!

In all fairness, a variety of Native American and other myths used as inspiration here feature animal spirits in various forms.

@@hariman7727 I probably should have studied more about native mythology rather than the base level. Thank you for telling me

I can't believe this series is so old and I just now found it. I had seen a few clips and was hooked. I started at the first and in two days managed to watch all 38. I wish it would continue on there were so many loose ends. I have watched this clip at least 5 times and every time with tears running down my face. You have a wonderful creation here best of luck to you in your future.
