Really informative video Jeff! I don't make project recaps as such but since I have a tech channel and a website I have to explain the same thing in 2 different ways. So a project recap template would help make my tech posts and video descriptions more engaging and easier to understand. Yes, I agree that other than your YT nothing is perfect!

I-I’m guilty of overloading my writing with information 👀💦 guess that’s what years of meeting word counts for college reports does to you haha Great tips by the way! They’re really practical and can be used for a lot of situations, not just projects! :D Thanks Jeff P.S. thanks for the review on email etiquette, I’m often forgetting who to CC and who to BCC 😂

@JeffSu2 жыл бұрын
To be very honest the structure can be very similar between newsletters and project recaps! Newsletters are actually more versatile since you can include anything and everything you want in it
@krakowian Жыл бұрын
In my company there is no internal recap circulated however we are encouraged to write a post on our website or to the external newsletter about finished projects. But I would say it is more for marketing and communication with stakeholders in our case. Would you say that it is one of the ways to encourage building a lessons-learned culture? I guess in your case/company it is a a good practice rather than a must. Am I right? thank you for a great video and template, I will steal with pride :D
@JeffSu Жыл бұрын
Yes it's encouraged but definitely not a must! I think most of my colleagues (including myself of course) do it to celebrate a will, share learnings, and of course, increase our visibility in the workplace! You're very welcome 😁

Hi Jeff! Really love the content. The only question I have is that the whole layout of your template seems more from a manager's perspective. For entry-level professionals, what are some key points you would suggest to make in a recap email? Tks in advance
@JeffSu2 жыл бұрын
Hi Coco! I would actually argue a recap email wouldn't be different for an entry level professional vs. a manager because the substance you should be sharing is the same! The objective of these recap emails is to share quantifiable results up front, and follow that by highlighting key takeaways/actions items. Those are (in my opinion) universal regardless of the title of the role. Hope that helps!
@cocochen16702 жыл бұрын
@@JeffSu Tks so much for the reply! Truly appreciate your insights. Yes, I totally agree. I think a better way to restate my point is that even though the substance is the same, the way a professional narrate it can be impacted by their position and company culture

Your videos are always excellent Jeff. Much of my professional experience is as an academic and we definitely did not write project recaps. In my current tech startup role, we also don't write project recaps. How do you know a project is over? This is not clear in my organization.
@JeffSu2 жыл бұрын
Great question Kinga! This is related to the objective/goal you set out from the beginning to achieve. Once there are numbers to measure against that goal, you can recap your progress so far! 😁
