This video arrived at a good time for me and provided the framework I needed to move my song idea to the next step. Thank you! I’ve just done the brainstorming exercises, now I’m heading to the piano to play around with chords and set some of those lines to music. I tend to get bogged down searching for rhymes.. I think keeping my focus on DETAILS FIRST, THEN ZOOM IN ON FEELINGS will help me see the overall song structure and keep it going. This channel continues to be one of my favorites. Thank you Keppie.

Hi! first; thank you so much for all your courses. I loved them all and I am learning so much. Ok, my idea is "to be together we must be apart". Is about a very special friend that lives on another state (USA). The lines I came with are: far away from each other, can only talk online, miss her voice, sadness and happiness when thinking of her. That said, I do have the disguise the lyrics as we can't make it public (long story). Anyhow, I am changing it to be about ships (retired Sailor here). Some of the unfinished lines for it are: we are two ships adrift in the sea of life slowly floating away as the time goes by the tides pushing us more and more apart the unrelenting forces of the world's oceans I want to be your lighthouse shinning light for you to follow for those dark and storming nights you can always count on me to guide you I you drift too far from the coast I will not see your distant shadow if you loose sight of the coast now you will loose track of the safe harbor want to throw you a line to hold on but I'm afraid you are too far to reach you Still a work in progress and I still have to find a hook for the song.

I noticed that the same approach has been used by Prince in his song “Sign of the times” being the verses the detail/showing part and the chorus the feeling. A masterpiece of his own but also this comes to my mind when thinking about this kind of mindset regarding great lyrics writing.

Just want to say I love your voice :) I went rogue, and wrote a song about the 'Purity of your love' (Instead of Christmas, sorry!) A single word in a darkened cinema I know your destiny's cheerleader Cradle me tonight Tonic in the words you spoke Postcodes we shared in a secret stare Impressionable I know Adored in my flaws Helpless in your laugh Hands on the table Terror in the silence of shy, forgotten, blame When I wasn't even sane I'll hazard a guess And lie resplendent in your reign.

I just wrote the first full lyrics in years (calling it "Shades of Black and Gold"), that I'm actually proud of! Thank you!! I've also noticed that one of my favourite lyric writers does the detail + part as well, but instead of "I feel", he tends to replace that with "I want", which is super fascinating!

@QuincyKane2 ай бұрын
Kinda like what she shares in the video here, you really need to "zoom in" and personalize the lyrics. First, figure out what you want to sing about and what you have to say about it; you could be reflecting on an experience, venting a certain frustration, or sharing a lesson you learned about life. It really helps to write your Chorus first, as that's kind of the overview of the whole song; try to come up with a title and theme that allows you to use metaphors and symbolism. Then, you can "map out" your song by figuring out what to sing about in each verse and the bridge to lead into the chorus and help the story or topic progress (rather than just saying more of the same thing). Next, you write down what you "want" to say in each section without worrying about the rhyming or rhythm, and then finally you can tweak the ideas to rhyme and fit rhythmically. This channel has a lot of great videos about coming up with unique and personal lyrics, so check out more of their content, put the exercises into practice, and you will get there! Hope that helps!

Weight of gravity. Very great picture... As Djavan sang, "Tudo que Deus criou pensando em você. Fez a Via Láctea, fez os dinossauros". :O Oh no... What a feel, that's rubber soul, the agglutination in a clot of meaning and aesthetics. Maybe will be good to maintain control over some conceptualism risk.

The Best Lyrics Are Stories Things The Writer Has Lived Or Known Or Seen About Themselves And Others, then you have a foundation for a good song that feels Real even uf you use poetic and creative licence for certain details The key is Emotion 🪨 Do you believe what your singing? Tom waits is good at this, Nick Cave, Gene Clark Townes Van Zandt, Warren Zevon , Loudon Wainwright, Steve Earle, Jerry Jeff Walker, Bob Dylan, Sufjan Stevens, Father John etc💙💙
