Great video Matt !! I've ALWAYS written melodies first in the past - & struggled to find good chord progressions to go with them. Your advice about doing chords 1st is a good one. I've been using this practice for the last year or so.

Thanks, I'm glad the advice has helped you! Many people say if you're able to write the melody first it gives you greater freedom and better tunes. But like you discovered, it makes writing the chords more difficult! This is why I suggest the chords first approach.

@@WriteASong I find the melodies that come to me - usually when i'm waking up in the morning - are always better than the ones i have to 'create'. But the ones i have to 'create' are getting better !!
