Is it only me who find teachers giving us assignments without teaching us how to do them?

HOLD ON! You ASSUME there is a prompt: Write a Literary analysis of 'story 1' and 'story 2' using the qualification in source 3 to base your argument. Pay attention to syntax, and diction, along with the form the author used in the literary work. I'm a TEACHER working with ESL students...and common core is not as straight and dry as you make it out to be. Also at the collegiate level, most professors don't provide a prompt (not for upper division classes). My BA is in English Literature Analysis. Furthermore providing a prompt limits critical thinking. The student should be able to formulate a prompt on their own... Teaching them how is my issue.....

It’s called scaffolding, and I believe these videos were created for the students these teachers have in their classes, not just for the general public. And in my entire English Literature BA degree courses, I think there was only one or two times that there wasn’t a few prompts to choose from for each paper. I agree that students should learn how to develop their own analysis without the use of a prompt. But I think these videos are for 9th-10th grade high school students, so this type of scaffolding is appropriate.
